    Boiler knocking and banging

Cheers Pete, Bled and re-bled and there has been no banging so it looks like it was an airlock :) Yay! I'll get the MagnaClean cleared out over the weekend :( Boo!

    Boiler knocking and banging

Thanks Pete. No air in any rads when bleeding and both the vents have loose caps. Is there another way to vent the system?

    Boiler knocking and banging

Maybe a coincidence but I replaced a radiator on Monday night and tbh, we didn't notice anything (but it may have been quietly rumbling) but now upon start up, the boiler crashes and bangs. I've bled the system and no rads have any air. Pressure is at the recommended 1.5bar. Upon...

    Bedroom wardrobe cornice

Hi guys, I've had a quick search but can't see anything relevant to me, but I have a straight line run of new wardrobes that comes to 3500mm and the cornice supplied comes in lengths of 2000mm. Obviously, a join is required. Whats the best way to do this? Is it best to do straight...

    Can I use...

Maybe my original question could have been worded better. It was never my intention to LEAVE the B20 in situ. A simple Google search told me all I needed to know about the differences. It was only ever intended as a temporary fix until Amazon or eBay could deliver a B6 as I couldn't see a...

    Can I use...

Thanks - yes, I'm competent. It's not a case of not understanding, it's a case of asking a question... I've sourced a replacement NHX switch from B&Q and I've already swapped them over so it's all back to normal AND I lived to tell the tale. Cheers all!

    Can I use...

Okey dokey - if that is a direct replacement, Screwfix carry that range. Thanks for your help :)

    Can I use...

a Wylex NSB20 in place of a duff NSB06 on my consumer unit? I have a duff NSB06 and have a spare NSB20. It's the downstairs light circuit. The switch is knackered - a bulb blew last night and tripped the ciruit (as per usual) but after turning the light off and replacing the bulb, the CU...

    Minimal Grout Line

Yep, I've got these and they are a PITA to grout. I used 1mm spacers on them and used my finger to grout in the end. Needed a new finger by the time I was done though! Get a few pairs of cheap rubber gloves :) (But they do look the buts once they're done!)

    Floor or walls first?

Hi all, I am just about on the last run of wall tiles in the bathroom and have about 20cms of tiles to cut in at floor level all the way round. My question is, should I get the floor done first and cut the last tile on top of the floor or tile down to the existing floorboard and have the...

Order of proceedings in the bathroom!

Sorry, yes. The frame is primarily for the bath but also to enable the actual fitting of the bath panel - it's not for tiling. If I create the frame now before the flooring, I will obviously recess the frame by the width of the panel (20mm). Is that enough for the vinyl fitter to play with...

Order of proceedings in the bathroom!

Just a couple questions on the roll call of decoration order in my bathroom! 1. Steel bath is in position (with wall mounted taps) I've built half a frame with 2x2 batten's on the supporting walls. As the flooring hasn't been done yet, I've left the exposed sides as the new flooring...

    Question on pressure

Took that off (not that I knew it was there!) and the water came out as I would expect...a nice gushing free flow. There was a bit of crud in there but having cleaned it and replaced it, we're back to a trickle. Excuse my ignorance, but do I need this in place?

    Question on pressure

Hi all, I have some questions regarding water pressure from the kitchen taps, but as a bit of background, we had some building works done recently (extension in the kitchen, new utility room formed, family bathroom made larger and an en-suite bathroom formed...and finally the existing boiler...
