    Removing UPVC double glazed unit

Dear All In my previous house I was easily able to remove the rubbers from the outside of the double glazed units & then replaced the blown units without any issue. Now at my new home I cannot work out how the units are removed. They still have very thin black rubbers on the outside but the...

    Circuit Breaker Alarm

Dear All Is there a simple way of rigging up an alarm (sound or light) to alert me when a circuit breaker goes? The reason I ask is that about twice a year the circuit for my outside electrics will go and as I have a chest freezer running in my garage unless I notice within hours I end up...

    Rain water into waste drain

Thanks for the replies. My house was built in the 1930s. I want to add the additional down pipe down the side of my house which is a small walk way making it difficult to get to any soak away but easy to drop straight into a waste drain.

    Rain water into waste drain

Hello I know that it is completely wrong to run waste water into the rain/storm drains but is it ok to run rain water into a waste drain/sewer? Looking to add down pipe from my gutter and it's easier to run into the kitchen drain. Thanks

    Shower Rail - RUST!!!

Hi All Not sure what forum to put this in so opted for General. I am sick of the chrome shower rails I buy going rusty within a couple of years. Can anyone recommend a decent chrome one that will not rust in no time OR ideally I am looking for a rail that is 100% plastic but still has a...

Ideal Logic VS WB 24i Junior - Discuss

Again thanks for the reply. Well I have been given a quote for repair also but I am aware that the boiler is now getting on a bit & has been a problem over the last couple of years so was looking to replace. Could you maybe suggest a suitable model Viessmann or Intergas based on a 4 bedroom...

Ideal Logic VS WB 24i Junior - Discuss

Agile thanks for the quick reply. How much more are we talking vs the budget ones I have been quoted on? Thanks I guess another question is how does the Ideal & WB compare the Puma I currently have; would I actually be stepping backwards in terms of build quality etc or are the Puma's not...

Ideal Logic VS WB 24i Junior - Discuss

Thanks for the replies guys; I am guessing that you think that both these boilers are not the best for various reasons. Could you make a suggestion on makes/models? I am in SE London if any of you are local I am open to offers - no jokes. Thanks

Ideal Logic VS WB 24i Junior - Discuss

Hi All I have decided to replace my Potterton Puma 80e that has been problematic for the last 2 years & my plumber/gas man has recommended either one of the two. He says the Ideal is very popular & he has installed lots without issue plus it comes with a 7 year warranty. The WB is about £100...

POTTERTON PUMA 80E - WATER FROM AIR VENT & LOCK OUT

Oh yes just realised the CH expansion tank is the large disc shaped one fitted on the rear of the boiler. Is it even possible to get to the recharge valve as I cannot see how?

POTTERTON PUMA 80E - WATER FROM AIR VENT & LOCK OUT

Just did some reading up & I have found the DHW expansion tank hiden behind a plate; I assume I can take the valve cap off & check the pre-charge pressure once the system is cold?

POTTERTON PUMA 80E - WATER FROM AIR VENT & LOCK OUT

Thanks for the reply. System pressue is set to 1.5 bar cold but I just noticed that when hot water is demanded the pressue gauge goes slightly haywire & rapidly shakes and the shaking matches the fluttering/train like sound. Do these models have expansion tanks; could that be at fault? Thanks

POTTERTON PUMA 80E - WATER FROM AIR VENT & LOCK OUT

I have managed to get the boiler working(ish) by turning the central heating control AT the boiler itself down. However the boiler is running with a noise I can only describe as "fluttering" like the water is struggling to flow through it. Any ideas?

POTTERTON PUMA 80E - WATER FROM AIR VENT & LOCK OUT

Hi All I have a Potterton Puma that is sick. When demand is made for either hot water or central airing the flames kicks in, the pump starts but then you can almost hear the pressure build before the boiler locks out & a small amount of water/steam comes out of the air vent at the very top...
