    Double waste conversion

Cheers Terry. I just provided the links as a best representation of what I’m working with so might not be those exact fittings but appreciate that’s all you’ve got to work with as well :-) If there’s nothing that will fit into that side fitting then I’m sure I can swap for what you’ve...

    Double waste conversion

Thanks Terry - apologies not sure if you edited your post but I didn’t see the last sentence when I first viewed the post. I’ll have a look again tomorrow but not sure there is room for that setup youve suggested. Was hoping I could just use the existing connection.

    Double waste conversion

Hi all - I’m plumbing a dishwasher in for my brother, he’s currently only got a washing machine and therefore a single waste fitting into the traps under the sink. I bought one of these to enable a double waste...

    Draining CH

Wait until someone with more knowledge can confirm but I’m sure my grandparents had the same if not very similar type of valve on their old radiators. I think if you unscrew the cap to the left there will be a hex which in fact can be used to balance the radiators. Don’t think you can drain...

    Plastic inserts

Hah, yes, but have some pipe covers over them so don’t look too bad, but not copper I admit :-) Looks like pipe even too close to skirting to get an enlarger on. What about something like the elbow below going into the rad pointing ‘back’ to the wall, with the valve/TRV going into this being...

    Plastic inserts

Quite. Jut realised, having wanted to swap a single to a double radiator, the pipes are too close to the wall to meet the double rad valve. Done things backwards, the floor on was only done last year so can’t modify the pipe to move it out. Any bright ideas or or am I stuck with a single? Need...

    Plastic inserts

Nice one mate thanks a lot - there doesn’t appear to be anything printed on the pipe itself (it’s grey rather than white), may have rubbed off, but I can see on some of the push fit connectors on the water pipework are have JG logo, so suspect that’s the one.

    Plastic inserts

Thanks, sorry should have said it’s plastic. Will try and reuse but in case I need new - is this what I need? https://www.screwfix.com/p/flofit-flo-fit-fxi1o-pipe-inserts-10mm-50-pack/55253

    Plastic inserts

Hi - replacing some radiators on 10mm microbore pipework, the valves I am planning to use (opposite to TRV) are these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/chrome-angled-radiator-valve-10mm-x/51257 Will I need to use plastic inserts with these on the plastic pipe? Or copper? Not sure what type of...

    Odd radiator measurements?

Thanks, so you’d say the Danfos RasC2 over the Drayton TRV4? The latter looks better :-)

    Odd radiator measurements?

Also could someone tell me what the difference between a liquid and wax sensor on a TRV? Looking at these for my 10mm microbore: Liquid: https://www.screwfix.com/p/danfoss-ras-c-white-chrome-angled-angled-trv-10mm-x/33140...

    Odd radiator measurements?

Thanks - house was built in 2000 and these are he original rads - would that be classed as ‘old’? Fortunately (or unfortunately!) pipes are microbore so 5mm each side will be fine.

    Odd radiator measurements?

Looking to replace 6 radiators in my house so just measuring them up and was expecting them to be all multiples of 100 both height and width (e.g 600mm x 700mm), but all the heights of mine are 520mm, 620mm or 720mm. Is this normal? Also, do you measure the width to the valves rather than the...

    blinds2go ? anybody?

Bought 2 black-out blinds a year ago and another 2 exactly the same the other week. Brilliant service and for me the price is very reasonable. I’ll never buy and adjust blinds again.

How to fill holes in upvc window frame

Only thing I’ve found of any use is some white silicone. Try to flatten off the hole first by pulling a piece of hard plastic across it in all directions, as usually the edges are proud. It won’t be perfect but your eye (and therefore anyone else’s) won’t be drawn to it at all.

    Bathroom door won't hang

Fully agree with this, I had the same problem with an outside gate, after some research found that the way to make the wood-filled hope stronger is to add wood glue. Hasn’t budged since.

    Barbecue - charcoal

The problem with almost all but the most expensive barbecues are, no matter how much you cover them up, if they’re left outside, water gets in and they rust, and need replacing after a couple of years. After getting fed up of this after about 4 barbecues in 8-9 years, we bought a decent £120ish...

    Mouldy silicone

This was practically the sole reason for me moving to the Fugi tool, it’s got an attachment that keeps the tool straight across the grout lines so you don’t get the step. It’s a fantastic bit of kit. Much cheaper than it was a few years ago too, think I paid over £20 for it.
