Removing a toilet siliconed to the wall?

I don't necessarily disagree with you. Just seems to be an accepted method from what I've seen/heard.

Removing a toilet siliconed to the wall?

Long kitchen knife from either side in a sawing motion and prepare for some graft. I've recently had to remove a couple of shower screens and siliconed to the wall and that wasn't easy, so feel your pain! I also believe it's a perfectly acceptable method of attaching sinks and cisterns to walls...

    Weedkiller

Your ratio is pretty much spot on. I use Rosate as well (brilliant stuff) and after researching and reading online as I encountered the same issue as you, I found out 100ml per 5l was about right. Make sure you are VERY careful using this near any grass. If you walk on any applied substance and...

    Burst internal supply pipe

Not while we've been in the house but I suspect the stop tap has been moved when previous owners did the kitchen about 4 years ago as the stop tap is nice and shiny!

    Burst internal supply pipe

To update, came out yesterday and took away the grey pipe completely, put in another piece of MDPE onto the existing coming out of the floor and fitted an elbow straight onto the copper pipe going to stop tap (I assume with an internal reducer). All was well until a few hours later when the...

    Burst internal supply pipe

So now I know what they are, if I'm looking at the right part on screwfix I could fix this myself for 3 quid (plus cost of making good the floor). And I thought I was getting value out of the insurance :-) Thanks guys.

    Burst internal supply pipe

Sorry, edited post after I realised I'd got mistaken!

    Burst internal supply pipe

Thanks guys, sorry should have been more clear, the water is coming from between the (now identified) MDPE blue pipe and the black fitting above it. If you zoom in you can actually see the o ring which I presume should be compressed between the two.

    Burst internal supply pipe

Hi guys, just after some reassurance really. Just as I went to bed last night I heard a pop and water gushing under kitchen floor, internal stop tap did nothing, could not turn off outside stop tap (and not could the emergency plumber!!) so had to get the water board out who managed to shut it...

    Access tap diverter valve

Yes I managed to unscrew it from the top part, so looks like this is the part I need (see photo). Needle in a haystack springs to mind (or impossible!).

    Access tap diverter valve

Brilliant thanks, that's done the trick. See attached for what I've found. It looks like the large piece and the smaller price has broken apart. Not sure how critical this is but the way the thing was operating it was like the spring was not in the correct place. Where abouts should that spring...

    Access tap diverter valve

Hi all, could someone tell me if it's possible to access the diverter valve on these type of taps (see photo attached) for repair/replacement? When I turn the taps on no matter which 'setting' the knob is on I get half water coming out of the taps and half out of the shower.

Fence post repair - any experience with Postbuddy or similar?

You're in luck, I've got both of these on three of my wooden fence posts, two Post Buddy and one the RSL. My fence is about 17 years old and coming to the end of its life, but as I'm an end detatched I own all three sides of my fence so going to be a hell of a cost to replace so need to buy some...

    Removing shower screen

I would have thought water can get in between the screen and the profile where it slots in? Anyhow I appreciate your opinion on this. I'll take a look tonight and see if the seal is broken next to the profile, and consider sealing up the inside before removing the screen.

    Removing shower screen

Won't that create a channel between the silicone on the outside of the profile and the inside? I thought you were only supposed to silicone the outside and let capillary action do the rest.

    Removing shower screen

That's brilliant guys thanks very much. I'll leave the side without the leak in place and pivot the leak side out and fix. I'd not though of doing that, it will certainly cut down the amount of silicone I need to deal with!

    Removing shower screen

Hi all, could you help me with th best way to remove this shower screen and wall guides please? Noticed a leak last couple of days at the bottom left corner coming from under the shower tray. Spent the last hour or so removing the thin layer of tiles under the tray at the front and when...

    Broken Bathroom fan

Cant see is being a problem to replace as it's all accessible in the loft albeit a bit awkward. If they're independent I can just replace the fan part of it and leave the existing light and keep the new one in case that also goes, but my main question is really is this fixable by replacing the...

    Broken Bathroom fan

Hi guys, I've got an in-line bathroom fan and light fitting above my shower cubicle, the light works fine but the fan has stopped working. I've been up in the loft and found the part number and located the product: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Extractor-Fan+Light-Kit-with-Timer-100mm/p/199801...
