Hi guys, just after some reassurance really. Just as I went to bed last night I heard a pop and water gushing under kitchen floor, internal stop tap did nothing, could not turn off outside stop tap (and not could the emergency plumber!!) so had to get the water board out who managed to shut it off after 2 hours - the water meter was literally rattling with the speed! Fortunately all the water stayed under ground.
Had another emergency plumber out today and after cutting away some floorboards under the internal stop tap to expose a load of push fits, when the water went back on the leak was actually a little further back under the floor which he identified as the internal supply pipe as it emerges from the ground.
I've took a photo and attached - can anyone specific exactly what this it, what has happened to it and is it a simple fix once they've took up a bit more of the floor? Luckily I have supply pipe cover and they're ringing me tomorrow to arrange a time for an engineer.
