Can anyone tell me what the piece of plastic is called that hides the gap between two conservatory window sills please (see photo). Couple in ours have degraded and need replacing, hoping they're readily available!

5v is supplied from the USB if you wish to power this way. 12v comes from the heat link.

To answer your original question, I've been using a 240v/12v transformer for a couple of weeks to power the Nest, working absolutely fine. Had it confirmed in the Electrics UK forum before I did it - see thread below...

You don't need anything in Heating Off. Leave it empty.

Yeah exactly that. If I can reuse the old thermostat wiring then I can position the Nest in the ideal location mounted on the wall. The spur is in an airing cupboard so any modifications in there is also out of sight.

I reckon about 3m Max. Not got the book on me at the moment but I think the plug only supplies 3v so it will work with much less.

Thanks for the reply. Finally got the handle off with copious amounts of WD40 and a lot of pulling. Also managed to get the collar off without damaging it. Thought the retaining nut would be the easy part but continuing the pain in the arse it's been up til now, it isn't a normal nut. See...
