    can i seal this?

One tip is to silicone the gap as normal, but before you touch it it your finger, spray it with soapy water, then run your finger along for a perfect seal. The soapy water stops any drag of the silicone.

Perhaps I phrased that wrong. There are a couple of uk companies who's air con is crap. Also there is imported systems all over eBay. These seem to be systems that nobody has ever heard of and spares won't be ready available. Also the airforce stuff from b&q is also crap. The Japanese...

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

Just been reading some of the comments on the other post. May i add, the building already stood, and is at least 12 years old. We dry lined the internal walls (ontop of the origonal brick walls) re-wired, decorated, new wood floor and new doors. That is all. The brickwork has...

I agree with all of you. The customer just said that they used a "special" sealer then skimed on top. Im amazed its still on the wall.

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

What if a 4" channel was cut out along the outside edge then inject a new dpc lower than the internal floor level and filled with pee shingle, also fit guttering. Surly this will help.

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

I have just remembered that there is no guttering, perhaps having some fitted would help. I cant remember what the concrete is like outside, i.e whether water collects or not.

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

No its a stand alone barn. Its not attached to anything. There is no step in or out, just the door fresh hold.

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

im starting to agree with you. After looking into eflourescence looks like your all right. No what to do. Do you think treating it with some sort of product will sort it or chemical inject a new dpc.

Internal brick walls growing thick white furr, WHY???

Remember that when the walls were constructed it was for a garage not a habbitable room. The bricks dont feel or look damp, its not all the way round just in two corners and its a dry, light, white, fur.

Plastering over the top of bathroom tiles.

Is this possible? I was talking to a customer the other day. He has just had a new bathroom fitted. He said the plasterers skimmed straight on top of the ceramic tiles. How does it bond. Surely it will all fall off. Anyone hear or done it before.

Conservatory - heat pump and UFH, is it worth it?

have you had a quotation yet. If its been built nows a good time to get pipework into the cavity wall. Its alot nicer than in trunking.
