    Is this acceptable?

Must have cost a fortune in adhesive!

Which Tile Adhesive should I use?

The description seems to imply that it would be OK if it's "correctly grouted" But I wouldn't do it. Standard set powdered adhesive has a pot life of around 4 hours, surely that's long enough? You don't need to mix the whole bag in one go!

Here's a cheap but very effective method of cutting large tiles for e.g. envelope cut showers

Hi all, In searching for an answer myself I noticed that DIY cutting of larger tiles is a consistent question on this forum, especially when it’s on the diagonal, as you need a large (and expensive) cutter to do this. e.g. for 600 x 600 tiles, to cut corner to corner for a shower/wetroom floor...

    Nepeta 12mm worktops

Anyone got experience of these worktops from B&Q? Are they just a straight rebranding of the 'exilis' stuff they used to do (which itself was I think a rebrand of Wilsonart Zenith)?

corner silicone interference with shower screen channels

Hi all, Almost finished grouting (just floor grout still to do) my bathroom/utility room and then need to silicone round the wall to floor joints/corners. I have the shower screen channels to screw to the walls and these should sit tight to the floor. I know if you use a shower tray the usual...

Shower Walls - Vertical Cracks & Tiles Coming Away from Wall

Yeah I see that, I mean the grout between the floor tiles

Shower Walls - Vertical Cracks & Tiles Coming Away from Wall

In the picture where you can see the floor - what's going on with the grout? Has it broken up and fallen out?

Shower Walls - Vertical Cracks & Tiles Coming Away from Wall

With respect to the first point (the crack) - does the plywood butt up to the wall/pillar? If so then any movement in the board - and it doesn't look like it has a lot of backing framework to it - will be concentrated at that joint. It would be better for the substrate to go the full width of...

Shower Walls - Vertical Cracks & Tiles Coming Away from Wall

Tiled straight onto untanked plywood in a wet area? How long ago was this done? Plywood on the walls in a shower was never a good idea but is actually against the British Standard since middle of 2018. Hard to tell from the picture but if it's not bare plywood then it looks like it's been...

    Help Cutting 10mm 600x600 Porcelain

I've just a done a floor with 600 x 600 x 10 porcelain using a second hand Topps Ergo 630, no miscuts whatsoever. Of course, OP's tiles are not my tiles and if I was cutting his with my cutter or vise versa, who knows? I've never done a score in both directions though, only push away from me...

Hanging onto dot and dab... part 2

Well the bricks are typically only 100mm wide so yeah, you've probably just broken through into the cavity. No big deal. I'd personally prefer to have the expanding bit mid-depth of the brick as the drill may have blown a bit of the back face of the brick as it exited, not leaving much for it...

Cheers, let me know how you get on with the Ideal visit and any attempts to remedy the situation.

Get someone who's actually literate enough to know the difference between [it's] and [its] to do the UI text next time too. Amateur stuff.

Yeah, appreciate that, but their assembly line is in the UK and keeps Brits in jobs. Quite happy for their 'software' department to lose theirs.

Ideal Boiler Touch Connect Discontinued Early

Hasn't arrived yet. But nest app has 4.5 stars on play across 45,000 users, and Google is an actual software (and hardware) company, a world class one, so make of that what you will. I haven't had any contact with Ideal yet because I know what will happen, we'll do the merry dance of engineers...

Ideal Boiler Touch Connect Discontinued Early

I've just purchased a nest to replace the Touch Connect on my Vogue boiler which I've had a for a few months and have run out of patience with. It's basic but it kind of works OK using just the room thermostat and a timing schedule. My issue is the app, it's totally hopeless. When you switch...

To upgrade (and move) water mains or not

Since you have concrete floors you can come up from the trench outside and go through the wall above ground instead. Just need to use one of these https://groundbreaker.co.uk/products/insuduct/

Will tiles stick to bare plasterboard?

Even if the tiles come off the adhesive easily, in my experience there's no way you'll get the adhesive off the plasterboard without totally destroying it.

    Filling old flue hole

Hi all, I’ve had my boiler replaced recently and moved to a different room. I’m now left with a large hole where the flue used to be. I've duct taped over the hole on the inside temporarily just to stop draughts. Looks like it was made with a bolster chisel and it’s significantly larger than...

    tiling around door

Yeah, resurrecting a 10 year old thread, but I can't find any others that deal with the same topic and my question is exactly the same. Perhaps OP will get an email and let us know what he did in the end (10 years ago) or perhaps some others can give some guidance on how best to do this?
