how long can you get exemption on your house renovation project unnocupied..ive had 12 months exemption so far 6 months to start with followed by a further 6 months by doing major works such as knocking down walls etc and providing proof etc..but the house is still nowhere nere done is there any...

im going to have an outside tap fitted/plumbed in etc..piped through from under the sink straight outside...only problem is that it will also be under the new kitchen window ive had fitted..so possibly could look a bit unsightly unless fitted alot lower to the floor...what is the general height...

i am fitting smoke alarms in my house top & bottom of stairs hard wired interlinked with a 3 core...do i need optical smokes bat back up in this situation or ionisation cheers :)

lance im in yorkshire..its actually 30 sq metres + tiling into 2 cupboards which are the boiler cupboard + the under stairs cupboard both in the kitchen dining area to be tiled..a tiler with vast experience well recommended has given me a price of £600 5/6 days work + mats inc mapie tile...

ok cheers i will do it that wat then..just get my 3x2 & some long bolts to fix through the timber & through the steel beam etc ..then i can board it out with b & q loft boards..hopefully get a discount on them and the 3x2 as i have a tradecard :)

cheers static..do you mean running 3x2 battens accross the steal beams on top thus also giving this ventilation gap to let the insulation breath etc...+ should i lay the 3x2 battens tall or flat for this required depth cheers again :)

also as its a steel framed house the width between each steel beam is 850mm :shock: which doesnt give me alot of confidence with this span..of 18mm chipboard sheeting etc to be able to cope with a larger persons bodyweight walking on it!... on suggestions on wehat i need to do cheers again :)

or i may just insulate it with 170mm insulation leaving 30mm gap for it to breathe etc then board over it..the loft insulation i took out was only 100mm or so & the previous owners lived with this for yrs seemingly without any problems.... :)

i am just in the process of insulating & boarding the loft out for storage use etc..my house is a steel framed house & the depth of the steel beams in the loft is 200mm,i am going to insulate it 1st 270mm as required 100mm base + 170mm top up insulation,obviously when i lay the loft boards onto...

preferably metal crazydaze..gold silver etc although would consider wood if looks ok enough cheers mac its 30mm difference in the floor height...surely i need to levell upto this point and then tile on top level so its level and flat throughout..

does anybody know of a good quality stockist of threshold plates as i need 1 about 30mm in depth ? as thats how much my kitchen floor runs out..which i intend to self levell so i can tile flat and get rid of a ridge from where the floor starts to slope down towards the kitchen/hallway...

bought and fitted the risco sounder/strobe in the end, is the led meant to be permanently lit & not alternating led,s ? + the sounder is in the low tone mode ? but want it in the high tone mode..how do i acheive this cheers

i am ready to insulate the loft before i board it out etc ive taken out the old insulation so going to re-insulate it entirely..ive already got some top up insulation from b&q from a £3 a roll offer,is this sufficient insulation if i lay it in 2 lairs ? or should i have a different base...

just ready to buy a few new carpets for my house renovation etc..house unoccupied still so can either put carrpets down now or in jan..my question is am i better off waiting until jan for likely sales cheaper etc or are the big retailers giving the same discount even now ? ie carpetright etc...
