How to unstick stuck recessed (slot head) lock shield?

Its a sealed system @Mottie. Problem is, that's probably something I'd not be comfortable doing myself so obviously more costly as i'd need a plumber. So if any chance I can unstick that'd be good.

How to unstick stuck recessed (slot head) lock shield?

We have a new central heating system. It was installed piecemeal as the house was extended, so more rads added on, and they haven’t been balanced properly so the furthest ones in the kitchen extension (which are huge column rads) are not hot enough. simple enough job to balance the rads, or so I...

Thanks. How do you attach it to the ceiling? Just with adhesive?

What to do with sloping bathroom ceiling?

I've just bought a flat where the bathroom has a sloping ceiling. The bathroom needs completely redoing. The bath is under the slope and the shower rail attached to the slope. There isn't really a better way to lay the bathroom out, but the ceiling has clearly been suffering from the damp of the...

Wiring an Elkay Columbus 400A Pneumatic Time Delay Switch

Thank you @Colin Brenton that was exactly what I needed. Took all of two minutes and is working perfectly now.

Wiring an Elkay Columbus 400A Pneumatic Time Delay Switch

Hoping someone can help me with fitting one of these please? I'm a normally competent landlord, and have safely managed to do simple electrics such as wiring lights and switches over the last 20 years. I own a flat in a building with a tiny communal hallway. It has one light currently wired to a...

Seal between new black aluminium doors and white painted plasterboard?

But I am sealing it on the inside- that’s why I’m asking which colour best to use.

Seal between new black aluminium doors and white painted plasterboard?

It is sealed within the outside opening and with expanding foam inside the cavity. This is to neaten up the edge against the plaster skim on the inside.

Seal between new black aluminium doors and white painted plasterboard?

We’ve just had an extension with aluminium (Crittal style) doors. The doors are black. I’m now painting all the new plasterboard and there are small gaps to fill around the edges where the skim coat meets the aluminium. Walls are being painted white. I’m guessing I need to use something like CT1...

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

Yes, I meant the ply plate on the dpc. Scissor jacks seem a good idea if they fit under. It’d be a lot easier! Can’t quite work out how I’d modify the tops though as all seems to be welded together.

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

Thanks, I am probably overreacting, you’re right. Is it ok to put timber directly in the dpm?

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

So my question now @oldbutnotdead @mrrusty i need to put something like a brick or a paving slap or even a timber post onto the dpm without tearing or puncturing which might be difficult. Thinking of a bed of mortar, but worried it’ll just dry and slip away as the dpm is just a sheet of...

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

Aa the bit I’m struggling with is the timber post cut so there is a folding wedge. What hinges it?

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

All done with full b/c and inspected. I think when dug put, the void was 160mm but someone has emptied the bottom of the cement mixer into it, hence the shallower sections. Can’t see due to the bpm but it feels like that’s what it is. So, you’d plate the legs to the side of the joist rather...

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

I like this idea but can’t quite work out what I’ll need to do it. Would you be kind enough to treat me like an idiot (!) and give more details please?

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

Thanks, what do you mean by 'legs' please? Also, would it be ok to put the engineering brick directly on the dpm? Worried it might cut into the plastic?

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

I don't know how we'd be able to spread it across the floor as only a small section is being opened up due to the kitchen being fitted already

    Supporting joists under bouncy floor

So @oldbutnotdead it gets a little more complicated. Under the joists is a dpm but no gravel. The void is tiny and the ground underneath completely uneven (I have a feeling there is a big lump of concrete under there), so gaps are as little as 100mm in places, as much as 160mm in others. But as...
