Hanging a not so heavy mirror on a plasterboard wall

Am I going to have to fabricate something like those above? How would I go about attaching the 'knob' to the actual fixing? Thanks

And this is the type of fixing I'm after.

Hanging a not so heavy mirror on a plasterboard wall

Apologies. Really should have added a pic. It is framed but as said not very heavy at all.

Hanging a not so heavy mirror on a plasterboard wall

Evening, I'm looking to hang a mirror onto our bathroom wall. The wall is constructed of timbers, plasterboard and plaster. Whilst I'll try to find a timber I think the mirror is light enough to go onto the plasterboard if necessary. The mirror is to be hung by its rope but I'd like to...

    Floating shelves

Thanks for all the advice. I'm looking at tackling this at the weekend so again thanks for all the help.

    Floating shelves

Would you simply cut this ply to size and later it up to give the right thickness? I then have the problem of how to fasten it to the wall. Battens would show and I'd like to avoid using brackets.

    Floating shelves

Thanks for the link. I have a few other quotes coming back today and tomorrow. If these are of a similar price I will try and construct the shelves myself.

    Floating shelves

This is what I looked at but 260mm shelves aren't deep. We may have to resort to this though if these quotes keep coming out at around £1000!

    Floating shelves

Happy for them to touch the sides. It'll probably be necessary for the battens I imagine? Oak isn't necessary either. It's a shame as the Ikea ones are exactly the sort of look we're after but just not deep enough. The recesses are very deep. 5cm thick shelves would be good.

    Floating shelves

Hi, We'd like some floating shelves installed either side of the chimney stack in our bedroom. Measurements are slightly different each side but are around 960mm wide and 330mm deep. 330 will sit them back into the recesses slightly. In total we would like 10 shelves. 5 each side. We...

    Vinyl flooring advice

Any other views on the size of the boiler I will need for the above? Max 10 rads and underfloor heating in the kitchen. 1 bathroom. The EcoTec 838 looks like a good buy but if I can go smaller then I'd like to that if possible. I'd get the 832. Cheers David

New boiler install and move - things to consider

Thank you. I hadn't thought of the insurance side of things. I will install ladders to the loft space. I appreciate however it's not ideal in terms of servicing/repairing. In general are plumbers/electricians used to boilers being situated in the loft?

New boiler install and move - things to consider

Hi all, I am in the middle of gathering quotes for the supply and install of a new combi boiler. Currently the boiler is situated in the second bedroom and makes plenty of noise. It is around 8-10 years old and probably hasn't been serviced (based on the condition of the rest of the house)...

    Vinyl flooring advice

I love a bit of DIY, I really do. My skills do not extend to plastering or any type of building work unfortunately :(

    Vinyl flooring advice

I do like the vinyl as it is. The finished look should work well. I just need to get the bugger back! Having a really hard time sourcing a quality builder in South East London. I'm about to get the fifth lot in for a quote.

    Vinyl flooring advice

Thanks for the replies. I'll get a pic up when I get home tonight. Interesting point regarding a runaway for water. I wanted to turn the whole bathroom into a wetroom but the Mrs put the brakes on that. :(

    Vinyl flooring advice

Hi all, We've just had some vinyl laid in our new bathroom. The suite isn't in yet so there are just the pipes coming up through the floor and our shower tray installed. Where the vinyl has been laid over the bath waste pipe there is a cut outwards towards the edge of the floor. Is this...

    Hardwood flooring question

Going back to your first post chappers, I managed to get a piece of hardboard under the area concerned. That along with it settling has meant it's nowhere near as noticeable or bothersome. Thanks again for your advice.

    Hardwood flooring question

I've left around 10mm around the perimeter. As long as when I rest the skirting on top there are no gaps. I'd say 10mm was more than adequate.
