Thanks for all your replys, this problem has now been sorted by a part P qualified sparky. I am in the process of...

    Outside 500w security light

Got it sorted today turns out the fuse was a fusewire 15amp type. I got a man in, he took a 2.5mm cable t&e from the fuse box to a 3amp switched fuse and then a 1.5 t&e to the outside light. All works fine now apart from lighting up the whole street, think i will change the bulb for a 150w...

    Pointing Brickwork

Thanks for the advice, I started to add the mortar today, filled the gaps and brushed off the excess mortar on the bricks. The brick face was smooth so i used a slightly damp sponge to clean the brickwork then finished the mortar with the trowel. Looks very good and not a mortar stain in sight.

    Pointing Brickwork

I have a house the needs a bit of pointing doing. Problem is that the mortar joints between the bricks is very small maybe only 4mm in some places making it hard to repoint and rake out. Are there any tools or mastics i could use to make this job easier or is is just a case a being very carefull...

    Inset gas fire depth

Hi, Its a flavel windsor pebble gas fire (slimline). It says its ok for a pre-cast flue, i was just worried about the fire depth. If i bring it out to leave a 175mm gap at the back and the minimum is 120mm will i be coming out too far. After all its 50mm more than the minimum depth recommended.

    Inset gas fire depth

Hello, I have an inset gas fire that i want fitted to a pre-cast flue system. The fire chosen has a minumum depth required of 120mm, without the fire surround back in place the depth is only 100mm but with the stone fire surround back in place it will bring the depth to 175mm. Is it ok to use...
