Did you use a door maker and does the hinged / bifold door lay flat against the wall?

1500mm wide opening - can I make a door pair using bifolds?

Please excuse me for my poor explanation. I mean to say 2 bifold doors to span a length of 1500mm. So only 2 doors and not 4. Both doors being bifolds. I would need a 270 degrees hinge like you get on kitchen cabinet doors?

1500mm wide opening - can I make a door pair using bifolds?

What I want is a set of 2 doors that once folded - lay flat against the wall rather than stick out into the room. I am having a 1500mm wide opening made in a wall. How do I work out what size casing and frame I need? Do I just get a casing to fit the opening and then find doors to fit the...

Need to fit 10 new doors - should I go with mdf or soft wood casing?

Hmm I was thinking of ordering them online. I may have to get an idea of prices online and then swing by the merchants and see what they will offer. Thanks for your advice - really appreciated.

Need to fit 10 new doors - should I go with mdf or soft wood casing?

Thanks for that - that seems a good price - I was looking at paying £25 plus per casing. The walls once plastered will hopefully be straight - so casings will be less work and easier to fit?

Need to fit 10 new doors - should I go with mdf or soft wood casing?

I want to standardise the door size in the house - currently their width is varies from 70 to 78, the actual width of the doors 70.5, 75.75, 70, 78.5, 77.5, 78, 71, The height varies less - 198 - 200.5 So a standard door is 78cm x 198cm ? I just want to make fitting of the doors easier by...

Need to fit 10 new doors - should I go with mdf or soft wood casing?

Yes I meant a double door casing / lining. Thanks for your suggestions - I was thinking of the primed moisture resistant mdf skirting boards from Wickes - but happy to get them from Howdens. For Howdens don't I need a trade account? Now should I buy door linings or door casings? Yes my...

Need to fit 10 new doors - should I go with mdf or soft wood casing?

I was thinking about primed mdf that is moisture resistant. Looking online it seems softwood has a tendency to warp so the skirting becomes all bowed?

Can someone check my Lintel calculations

Well I emailed stressline who did the calculation for me and it turns out I was totally wrong - no surprise there. They worked it out at 7 KN/m and specified an R15 at 1800mm and even provided the calculations. So will forward these onto BC. What I don't understand is that Stressline standard...

I am having every single internal door replaced - there are 10 in total plus a set of internal double doors. It's a stone terrace house. The skirting is being replaced as well. So can anyone recommend what material I should go for in the skirting - primed mdf or pine/soft wood Door lining...

Can someone check my Lintel calculations

Intend to make a 1500mm wide opening in the following wall which adjoins the front and back rooms in a terrace. The wall is a single skin which supports the floor above. BC have said that they will accept the calculations from the suppliers. I have rung a few suppliers and they have said it...

Damp Cellar - how do I work out what's causing it?

This is the view from the outside. The big black pipe is the soul water pipe. There are no manhole covers other than a drain where the gutters run into and the pipe from the boiler. How would you get access to the trap? The pipe that you can see running over the second step is from the boiler...

Damp Cellar - how do I work out what's causing it?

The external wall to the soil outside is the one with the damp / water ingress. There is wetness at the bottom of the all but its bone dry from about 1ft up. The foul pipe from the toilet runs on the outside about 2.5ft to the left of the window as you are facing it from the inside. This...

Damp Cellar - how do I work out what's causing it?

I don't know - I will have to buy an infra red thermometer first. I will put a thermometer on the floor and let it adjust - perhaps that might work.
