    Drilling

Bit late with the reply expect by now the curtains are either up or fallen down for the last time. Anyways had similar problem. My concrete lintels had both stones and reinforcing steel rods in them. When I hit against the stone the drill would not go in any further, the solution was to do...

paint problem on newly skimmed walls

Had my wall/ceiling plastered recently and had a similar problem. Seemed that the plasterer applied what seemed like PVA glue all around the join between the ceiling and the walls. Sure enough the first thinned coat did not take at all well on the PVAed areas. Applying a second and third coat...

    Glass Tiles

Hi Will shortly be attempting to tile the bathroom using these glass tiles http://www.decorumtilestudio.co.uk/indian-summer.html Fortunately it’s only a relatively small area, but at £180 per square meter don’t really want to make a cock up of it. Have done a bit of tiling before...

    Sills filling with water ??

Didn't get much time to play with it today but now that it has been identified that the water is getting in via the sunroof have been using jugs of water rather than hose pipe so no need for the dog fortunately. Feeling through the head lining can confirm that there are tubes running from...

    Sills filling with water ??

Well just tried the hoes pipe. Would seem the water is getting in via the sunroof seal. The sunroof does have a channel with drain holes. You can hear the water "gluging" down thus don't think the drainage hole are blocked. Have lifted the carpet in that area and can see the water pouring...

    Sills filling with water ??

Did wonder about drain holes but at the time didn't notice any. Was thinking of drilling some but then thought better of it since its a box section and forms part main structure/strength. Will look more carefully for some drain holes. But, even if there are some and they are blocked, still...

    Sills filling with water ??

had thought of doing that but a) not sure where one stands on this what with the hoes pipe ban and all. (neihbours can be a problem at times, they have reported other ppl for different things) b) IF it is getting in though the body skin into the sill and out to the footwell then wouldn't be...

    Sills filling with water ??

Wife has taken the car to work, will check when she gets back. But it's only one of those cheep glass ones, not a tilt and slide, so don't think it has channels, just squashes down on a rubber seal from what I remember. Also as the roof lining does not get wet, would not have thought that is...

    Sills filling with water ??

Thanks for the reply. Did wonder at first whether the water was comming in via the door. The carpet immediatly below the door is bone dry, also pulled off the door panel and all seems dry in there. So don't think the water is getting in via the door.

    Sills filling with water ??

Got a 1989 Nissan Micra 3 door hatchback which we've had for a few years. The car is parked on a slope facing downwards and just recently noticed that the passenger footwell fills up with water whenerver it rains. Have been checking roof/dashboard etc, i.e. areas above the footwell, for signs...

    Water soluable paint

poster paint seems like an idea ... not to sure where to get the quanty to piant 4 door at a realistic price though. Paneling over the door I don't think would work. They are 4 panel doors and to put on a "fake" flush finish I feel would mask the true effect of them being painted.

    Water soluable paint

Perhaps a strange question but ... We fitted pine doors to all the upstairs rooms some time ago which I varnished. I think they look good but the other half has since gone off the pine look and wants them painted. I think it will be a big mistake and something she will regret once she...

    Electric Ceiling Radiant Heating

Hi My son is looking at a property to buy, property was built about 18yrs ago, which has electric ceiling radiant heating. Each room has its own thermostat. Never heard of such thing. Anyone have any experience of such a beast. How well will it heat the house and most importantly how...

    pressure washers

Pressure washed my wall a couple of times and surprised by how much cement and brick "dust" there was. Thus my answer would be yes they can if the water jet is sprayed directly onto the wall at close quarters. However in you neighbours case, if he's just doing the drive and not directly on...

    One way trap?

How quickly does you sink drain? Water tends to follow the path of less resistance. Since the water in your sink is higher than the washing machine outlet if the sink waste pipe/sink trap is blocked then the water will go down the easier route and into the washing machine. As to why its...
