DPC higher than concrete slab, damaged DPM and easy self leveller?

Would it be worth applying something a liquid DPM like Synthanpruf to the area where the slab meets the brick? Maybe trying to get in behind the DPM for the length of the wall? Apologies for my amateur ideas, time is short! Thanks again.

Self levelling and DMP on kitchen floor. Ardex NA?

Thanks pal. I've just posted in the building forum, but the external wall DPC is a course too low which would have been contributing to any damp. I've also had a plastic sheet sealed on all sides with a cheap digital hygrometer underneath. The reading has only gone from 34 - 36% in 36 hours. I...

DPC higher than concrete slab, damaged DPM and easy self leveller?

Hi All, I'm installing a new kitchen and will be self levelling the concrete slab for tiling (TBD). I've just discovered that the DPC is a course too high and actually sits above the concrete slab. Weirdly the cowboys who did the kitchen previously have also cut away the DPM at the level of the...

Alcove shelves - Glue ply and rout?

I was looking into the Kreg tools for a guide, the Dewalt circular saw I've just bought doesn't appear to be compatible with their own rails. Any views on the kreg guides? All the best.

Self levelling and DMP on kitchen floor. Ardex NA?

Hey all, Another question here. I've lifted all the floor tiles and adhesive from the floor, but have left some deeper marks where the chisel worked extra hard! The floor has a deviation of about 12mm. Should I use Ardex rapid repair mortar to fill the deep areas, then Ardex NA to level, Ardex...

New laminate or renew quartz worktop

Ive decided to get the current worktop re-cut to fit our new kitchen. The main problem area will be hidden under our coffee machine (plumbed in), but I'll also be getting a pro for cutting, clean and polish.

Alcove shelves - Glue ply and rout?

Thanks, that's great. I've decided I'm going to purchase a table saw (this is an excuse). I'll then do the plywood / mitre method with supports on the sides and back. I'll let you know how it goes!

Alcove shelves - Glue ply and rout?

Hey again! In between refitting the kitchen, I'm looking to put alcove shelves into our living room. I've already put 2 shelves which sit the tv and some other stuff. I used the mdf and button method which worked ok. However, I was wondering if it would daft to glue 2x25mm ply, cut to size and...

Fitting Ikea kitchen - couple of questions please?

Thanks Foxhole. I would really like the 3 tall cabinets to be full height (boiler, larder & oven). However, if I were to do this, I would only have about 10mm height to play with on either side of the kitchen. Would this be something that you'd consider too risky? I know it won't be that easy...

Fitting Ikea kitchen - couple of questions please?

hope this makes it clearer. The graphic is what we'd like to achieve, a 2 door cupboard which allows to keep the boiler closed when not needed. Also disguising the space above the boiler and the magna clean, whilst allowing access when needed. Am I right then on planning a minimum distance of...

Fitting Ikea kitchen - couple of questions please?

Hi again, I'm designing an Ikea galley kitchen for our house. 1. Covering the boiler - the boiler stands from the ceiling 2490mm down 1200mm (inc. pipes). We'd like to put a full height unit over it so we can make use of the storage underneath. However, the height would mean only 10-15mm to...

New laminate or renew quartz worktop

Hi All, I'm fitting a new kitchen at home. The current quartz worktop is looking tired with numerous stains and a couple of chips and it would have to be cut to fit the new kitchen. We cannot afford to buy a new quartz worktop, so the question is; is it possible to renew the worktop so it...

Any idea what's going on here?

Hi fellas, Apologies for the delayed update, I got sidetracked with a couple of other jobs in the house. So, I've wired as per post 16 and all appears to be working fine. I opted against wiring for the timer as the current set up suits us just fine. Just to say a big thanks to all of you who...

Silicone shower corners - can I do this?

Completely screwed it up. Used a Fugi tool but still made a complete mess of it. Damaged the vertical line of silicone and couldn't smooth it back as it had started to cure, so removed it and one of the horizontals. Stained the grout with the silicone (after doing a good job) and now its looks...
