    Newell post

If you really want the house I wouldn't bother messing the vendors about because of a loose newell post. Normally they are loose because someone has replaced the original post and not secured the new one properly. You should be able to remove some of the floorboards around the post and then...

How to replace damaged floorboards on a landing

Just adding to big-al's advice, When possible I remove the nails, draw a line joining the nail holes and cut along that line with the circular saw (because the nails SHOULD be in the centre of the joists, so when you come to fit them back down you wont have to add too many new supporting battons)

cutting laminate flooring around door frame and architrave

100% CUT THE FRAME. I find using a hack saw with a 45 degree fitting is the easiest way, saves your nuckles

    dip

Take the skirting off to get to the edge of the laminate, lift the edge of the laminate gently and you should start to see it coming apart at 20-30 degrees, then pull it away from the joining board, you'll probably find the whole row of laminate along the skirting edge will come away, let it do...

    Second hand van

I think you'll really struggle at £600, bearing in mind you add vat (usually) and there are auction fee's. But British car auctions Measham hold a commercial vehicle auction once a month, usually hundreds go through, good luck :?

    near misses

I've known a few but a couple that stick in my mind are, When I was an apprentice Carpenter we had a fencing job to do, the guy I was working with was showing me how to dig holes for the posts, he was explaining it like it was rocket science, only he didn't notice the main electricity cable...
