    "bracket buffers" on panel radiator

hi, just bought a "flomasta" panel radiator from screwfix, it came with 4 "bracket buffers", plastic bits clipped onto the radiator. I assume these are to stop metal on metal noises as the metal expands and contracts. i can't see how to fit these and still get the radiator to hook onto...

    Frozen condensate pipe....

Is DIY fit of that possible for a condensate pipe? modified my condensate pipe to 32mm but if it still freezes this winter i'll need to revisit the problem.

Easiest way to rebate wood (in this case architrave)

no problem, i see lots of posts where I wonder how things worked out for people so I've decided in future to post updates on my own (if i remember) in case it helps others. :)

    Water is not hot enough.

I had a similar problem (no pump involved though), i replaced my hot water cylinder with a mains pressure one and had fitted a gate valve on the cold feed to limit the hot flow rate with the theory it would stop people using up all the hot water too quickly. what i discovered though was that...

Easiest way to rebate wood (in this case architrave)

so, in the end only one door had a big enough gap (3mm) that needed some attention. i had some 3mm hardboard i saved from the back of a kitchen unit, cut a thin strip, glued and clamped to the architrave, light sand down when dry then fitted as normal. should be undetectable when finished...

Why are my wooden rails sticky ?

i have a similar sounding problem on an ikea chair. i suspect the missus cleaned the arm rests with something she shouldn't have and years later they still feel sticky (and look a lot dirtier now) one day it may get sanded and re-varnished, too many other things to do first though....

terrain guttering, will new match up with old?

Hi, Need to repair my guttering before this winter as I broke a coupling/bracket and chipped another bit with all the ice we had last winter. It's terrain guttering, crescent shaped, from about 1985. Just wondering if the modern stuff will be an exact match? I may even replace it all...

Damp patches on my wall after painting with matt paint??

were those bits of wall repaired at any time? I've noticed when I paint that if the wall has been patched or repaired with filler it goes darker due to that bit of wall having slightly different absorbancy. It normally sorts itself out when it dries though.

Easiest way to rebate wood (in this case architrave)

thanks for all the tips and replies, not had a chance to measure and look more closely to see if it's an even lip all round, will check tonight and decide on the best course of action. I also did think about planing the frame, but decided against it as i didn't want to take it out to do it...

    Soil branch info

interestingly, when I was doing research for my project I read the part H document (although I'm in scotland) and if you read the section in this document http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_ADH_2002.pdf, Page 9, Table 2 it indicates that the minimum fall is 18mm per metre...

Easiest way to rebate wood (in this case architrave)

as mentioned, not sure of the correct name of it but it's not the decorative, shaped kind. In profile, it's just a rectangle with the two outer corners rounded off. I'll need to measure properly as I only did a quick visual check with an offcut last night once I had finished taping and...

Easiest way to rebate wood (in this case architrave)

Hi, Just getting round to fitting the architrave on some door frames I've fitted. The door frames are a few mm wider than the wall I've built so the architrave does not sit flush. If the gap was small enough I would just caulk it but I think that will look sloppy in this case so I reckon...
