FIESTA "L" REG.....BLUE SMOKE ON START UP !!!!

Sounds like your valve stem seals have hardened up while the car was lying. While it was being used the constant oil washing and heating keeps them supple but once a car is left especially a high miler they get tough and don't form a proper seal. It will probably last for years as long as it's...

Bosch WFF 1201 motor not turning

The machine goes through the cycle fine lets the water in advances through the program and pumps the water out. The motor doesn't move at all though. The brushes are new. Could it be the capacitor? Please help!

    Car Widow Seal

It sounds to me as if the mechanism isn't quite right. There's lots of things it could be and the best way for a novice to do it is to look at the other side and compair. They should be a mirror immage of each other.

    rumbling noise

It's sometimes very difficult to distinguish which side is worn. I replaced the front right in my 405 because the noise got louder when cornering to the left but it didn't make any difference. Turns out it was the other side, it's the sideways forces when cornering rather than the extra weight...

Fiat Doblo van 1.9 diesel engine - is it crop?

Well nec at the moment I drive a 1996 Golf 1.9D. It's the wife's car really I just sold my old 405GLDT estate. We're trying to manage with one car for now. Believe it or not I hate cars and the less I can spend on them the better so I tend to stick to old bangers, mind you the golf is pretty...

    Gear Knob

Don't know about the megane but I've had to do it before on vauxhalls but that entailled removing the stick complete and submerging in hot water to soften then heaving like a demon.

Ford Fiesta temperature guage (maybe ?)

Fiat Doblo van 1.9 diesel engine - is it crop?

Glad to be of help, hope you get something sorted. To be perfectly honest I wouldn't touch a Fiat with yours....but that's just a personal thing. If you had bought it at an auction you would be wishing you had gone to a dealer, are you any better off?

Fiat Doblo van 1.9 diesel engine - is it crop?

I see you’ve already been on the Fiat forum so need I say more? They’ve sold 310,000 world wide and the 8-valve 1.9 JTD remains at the pinnacle of the Doblo Cargo range. This 105bhp engine is of the first generation common-rail configuration and utilises Fiats Unijet injection system. It’s not...

    Ford fiesta fuel tank change

I've done it on similar cars and I take it from your post it's the quarter turn type of fitting? If so and you can get to it a liberal dousing of wd40 or similar and a few sharp cracks with a straight punch or drift tool should shift it. Consider if the sender is worth retrieving, in my...

Fiat Doblo van 1.9 diesel engine - is it crop?

I agree with the previous post get rid. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the engine and there are thousands all over the place with starship milages on them. That said you don't know the history of that engine and it could have been cooked. The dealer is quite right about just replacing...

    bosch excell 1400 pump filter

Some of the older Bosch machines had a little hoze attached to the side of the pump that you could drain it with. Not sure about your model, a few towels would be a good Idea.

    washing machine

I had exactly the same problem years ago and if memory serves me I think I opened the rubber door seal and worked it out or I managed to get it out through one of the drum holes or both. If it's small enough you should be able to get it out on the pump inlet hoze.

    new machine

If you're thinking of going for a new Bosch go for the more expensive and basic models. Older Bosch machines used to start at £400 10 years ago. They've obviously cut a few corners to try and compete in the lower price bracket recently. I work in a landfill and recycling centre and in the last 7...

Signs and syptoms for a head gasket leaking

So the water is obviously getting hot throughout the system so that rules out a jammed thermostat. How long does it take to heat up? If the thermostat was out it should take a while if the engine was just ticking over. If indeed the thermostat is out and the engine gets very hot quickly it's...

Signs and syptoms for a head gasket leaking

The head gasket is always the first point of call when there are no obvious signs of leakage. What exactly do you mean by excessive pressure? As the system warms up it pressurizes normally. There could be an air lock in the system that's preventing the water from circulating properly or the...

    corsa 1.4 dirty engine

Gunk is good but you need to get down and dirty with it, it's just a degreaser really so there are others on the market you could try. Ordinary paraffin is also good for really thick glupe. Get some carb cleaner for the delicate bits. If you have access to an ordinary hose with a bit of pressure...

    Flasher unit

Had the same problem with my 405 never did anything about it and it went away for a while then started again then stopped again??? I think the problem is with the stalk because if you fiddle around with it, but without actually engaging it, it stops. Not serious but very annoying.

    Cleaning UPVC Windows & Doors

If you've got black stains on your upvc windows try super resin car polish. I did mine with AutoGlym and they came up a treat. It seems to work best the dirtier they are. It leaves them nice and shiny too so the dirt can't attach itself so easily. :D It will bring the glass up a treat too.
