worth checking - because I've seen this before.... make sure the spout on the float valve isnt discharging near the overflow pipe itself! I had a customer who's tank's overflow pipe was right next to the valve and water was getting into the overflow when the tank filled! :roll:

Hi all, Does anyone know if it's worth salvaging old steel pipes and taking them to the scrap yard? Making about £200 a month at the moment from old taps and copper but I still come across a lot of old steel pipes and tanks - are these worth the hassle of cutting up and weighing in?

that be a syphon u have there ship mate so its almost certainly not the cause of water running into the pan, its more likely your float. have u tried adjusting the float. :idea: of course you could be really unlucky and in actual fact your syphon is leaking from the backnut, in which case...

sounds like water hammer. check your pipes are securely clipped. Might need to fit an arrestor, although I find just changing the float valve solves it 90% of the time.

yeh i've already seen the £12 fobs on ebay, but thought these were just the plastic shells? I've looked over the PCB and it all looks intact :(
