What the heck are these tubes for?

A conundrum for those of you in the know. I found a few of these ridged, small plastic tubes lying around on site today. Any idea what they are please? It's got me flummoxed!

Here're the close up photo's of the grout and tiling in the corners adjacent to where the damp is externally in both showers.

    Shower skirting damp cause?

I'm hoping that the experts on here can assist us with this problem. We’ve had 2 showers recently installed and tiled, however in both of these showers damp has begun to appear through the skirting boards directly adjacent to the showers. The attached photo’s show this. Unfortunately we simply...

I suspect we might have been better off employing some of you to do the work GtH. We’re based in East London, if you have any recommendations. Thank you.

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

Thank you to everyone who's responded. It's refreshing to know that there are good people out there too after our experience. Does anyone have any practical knowledge they would share about how we could have the risers and treads for these 2 steps replaced? The builders refuse to take...

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

They knew right from the start before the stairs were ordered that they wouldn't be covered. Do you know if replacing the treads and risers for these bottom 2 steps is possible?

They won't sadly, so we just have to deal with this ourselves. It's not an uncommon story sadly.

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

When varnished the ply will look different to the hardwood which makes up the rest of the staircase.

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

It is indeed a nightmare Big-All. We thought of a shelf, but it'll close the space off too much. The joint's around 10mm, although I'm not quite sure I understood your question!

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

Thanks Foxhole, we'd thought of that but as we want to varnish (non-slip) the treads they'd look different to the other treads.

Restoring 2 terribly installed stair treads and risers

The builders have made a real botch of the bottom 2 stairs on a staircase they installed, as the attached photo's show. This happened because the staircase they ordered was too short and didn't reach the wall at the bottom, leaving an awkward gap. They told us that it would be an easy fix to...

We’re coming to the end of our renovation thank goodness and have noticed spots of the newly applied plaster which has been up for weeks popping, as shown in the photo’s. Why do you think that this is happening and what we need to do about it please? Thanks

How to create air gap by joist for flue?

Excellent thank you cdbe, you think that'll do the trick? I know nothing about what's needed in terms of the beams being strong enough to support the cement fibre tiles, hence asking for advice!

How to create air gap by joist for flue?

That's super, thanks cdbe. What do you suggest that we use to join the 2 beams together, which is represented by the 3 lines on either side in your sketch?

How to create air gap by joist for flue?

Thanks Woody. I'll give the manufacturers a call tomorrow and see firstly whether the 75mm referred to is to the outer or inner flue and I'll also ask them about your suggestion regarding protecting the beam. Thanks Woody. The twin wall flue is insulated. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll...
