Cost of a suspended timber floor (ground floor)

It is a semi that is virtually a terrace, there is absolutely no side access. There is barely a front garden. The floor was rotten, outside the scope of works, and has got to be changed pronto as it's holding up the build. The ground floor bathroom needs to go in before Christmas.

Repairing a cracked plaster and lath ceiling

The view of everyone is that 9mm plasterboard is too think for whats up there. I would've thought that metal lath would work. Pinned to the joists. The metal lath is very thin, less than 1mm thick. I would not have thought you'd need to put +8mm of plaster up to cover the metal. I...

Repairing a cracked plaster and lath ceiling

It's already quite ornate for not a big room, so i'd prefer not to add another section. I'm thinking a metal lath like this, pinned to the ceiling and then plastered on...

Repairing a cracked plaster and lath ceiling

Hi, We have a cracked with small holes, plaster and lathe ceiling. We've been told to over-tack with plasterboard and skim. The issue is that the old Victorian cornice remains. To overtake with 9mm plasterboard and then plaster would not work as it would create a ceiling that...

Internal "foldback" door using parliament hinges?

Hi, Hoping you can offer some ideas. - A double door size gap - A 2 stair drop on one side - On the other side, one of the door cannot be left open as it blocks another door. So I think both doors need to go fold back onto one side of the door. Like a bi-fold door. My trouble...

Help spec'ing LED downlights and dimmers

I've just checked the plan and for the entire house there are 48 downlighters, in a 4 bed, 2 bath, 2 reception room terraced house. I'm not sure if you think that too much? There is a single storey extension kitchen which will have downlighters and pendants. The main reception rooms...

Thanks very much. Costs are included for "dimmable GU10 LEDs" at present. The MK logic range looks good, thank you. If i wnat the face plate fitted as flush to the wall as possible what should i ask for? As for the LED fittings, we don't want to go down the retrofit route. Thanks for the...
