    Want to keep skylight open

Got two Keylite roof windows but in my opinion they don't open wide enough. Officially they most probably open as wide as they should as they sit parallel horizontally with the floor. I was thinking of a gas strut to hold the window open wider - good idea or not??

    Terminating Coax Cable Runs

Appreciate the reply. Might leave the lower capacity splitter in situ at the moment until terminator caps arrive. Cant seem to find any at Maplin or Screwfix so will have to wait until some get delivered

    Terminating Coax Cable Runs

Hi all, Have updated the CATV splitter from 2 out to 6 out as we are requiring TV in other areas on the house however I will not be using 2 outlets from the splitter and my query is... should I be using a terminator cap on those out ports or am I okay just to leave them 'empty'? Also if I do a...

Where can you buy flue covers?

Am taking a woodburner out for a friend of the family cause it isn't exactly ideal with a toddler around and they just want me to cap the bottom of the flue as they might put a stove back in at a later date. I think they may put an electric faux stove in its place. I was going to put some...

    Removing a key safe (resolved)

Thanks for the pointers and suggestions. Key safe now removed using a drill and angle grinder. Drilled the corners that held the metal rod/hinge. Then used the angle grinder to go over the top where the locking mechanism. Removed a lot easier than I thought it would.

    Removing a key safe (resolved)

I thought it might come down to an angle grinder. I didn't know if it would be possible to drill the corners out and remove the hinge.

    Removing a key safe (resolved)

We have had a four digit combination key safe by the front door for a number of years to allow carers into the house for my father, as circumstances have now changed (my father passed away last year) I thought I would either remove it or relocate it somewhere less obvious however when trying the...

Worcester 28i Junior - looking for Hive/Nest style timer

Got a Worcester 28i Junior combi boiler, about 12 years old but would like the option to have some level of internet control/access. Does anyone know if Hive/Nest or another brand can be retro installed?

    Conservatory Heating

This is a 3m X 3m conservatory with an insulated solid concrete floor and glass roof. It leads on from the kitchen and will replace a small terraced area at the back of the house. If using a panel heater, are the cables pulled between the twin brick in the 600mm dwarf wall rather than surface...

    Conservatory Heating

Ah so I presume this is a precaution against the likes of frozen pipes etc. So a simple isolation valve on each pipe will suffice??

    Conservatory Heating

Hi there, Partner's cousin is having a conservatory and looking into heating solutions. I found an article from the Telegraph from 2015 that said "Another regulation is that the heating system of the main house must not be extended into the conservatory. This is to stop people connecting up...

    Kitchen Plinths

From the lookups I have done then I would agree but in all honesty a gap halfway along your fitted units looks a bit daft in practicality so we are running the plinths the full length. It stops the envitable even of something rolling underneath that area and me having to get down on my hands and...

    Kitchen Plinths

I have a run of kitchen plinths to put on but where the range cooker is installed, the legs of the cooker are not in line with that of the cabinets. I could put a baton on the back of the plinths to bring them in line but wondered if anyone knew of where I can get any plinth clips which are...
