Is it a Party Wall or not?

At the rear of my property there was originally a small loggia protruding about 1.5 metres and is a 9" solid brick wall built across the boundary. The same style of loggia was also on the adjoining property. Some time in the distant past the neighbouring owners built a further wall coming off...

    Sealing chipboard, yes or no?

So I assume the answer to my question is no. Sealing properly around the backer boards will do the job. Or should I put some SBR down first?

    Sealing chipboard, yes or no?

I'm laying a new floor in my utility including new floor joists. The intention is to put tile backers on the chipboard before laying ceramic tiles. Sound I seal the new chipboard with a water resistant finish like water seal or varnish or will the adhesive used to lay the backers on be...

The under void is about 6 feet deep with access holes to easily allow a worker to get through.

    Drill thro' concrete ground floor.

I'm having a rear extension built which has a large void underneath due to the sloping site. We're now at the first fit plumbing and electrics stage and as I've made access to the under void I would like them to put all the piping and wiring (apart from lighting) underneath and then come up...

    Thermal breaks for RSJ's

It wasn’t the Designer/Architect but the Structural Engineer!

    Thermal breaks for RSJ's

Because the RSJ has a plate welded under it to take the outer brickwork as per the Structural Engineers requirements.

    Thermal breaks for RSJ's

Yes, I’ve already planned for insulated reveals, but it’s the head of the aluminium track which is up against the steel. Whilst writing this I’ve just realised that the window fitter will use plastic packers between the track and steel so that will provide the thermal break.

    Thermal breaks for RSJ's

Having a single storey extension built which has two bifolds along the wall facing the garden. The small one can be covered with a standard thermal break catnic but the larger doors have box sectin steel columns and an RSJ over the top. The structure sits on the inner cavity and a plate is...

    Velux sizes

Can anyone confirm what is the outside dimension of a 78cm x 98cm Velux. I've hunted high and low on Google including the Velux installation guide and all they say is the roof aperture needs to 40mm to 50mm wider than the window.

    Which bi-fold doors

Did you buy from GFD Homes? I see they also do Korniche which I've seen a YouTube review video by the SkilBuilder which look impressive. Any one bought Korniche?

    Which bi-fold doors

We're having a 3.6M wide bi-fold door in our rear extension but there are so many suppliers so which are the best? Also aluminium or uPVC.

    H&S responsibilities for extension build

I have read this and other HSE documents several times and I'm still not clear how it applies to my situation.

    H&S responsibilities for extension build

I'm looking to project manage my single storey extension and use several subcontractors. Do I have any H&S responsibilities for the contractors or do they have their own? If I do have responsibilities what do I have to do?

Cost of installing ufh in new build extension.

Boiler has to be moved due to the extension build so there wont be any problems around creating two separate feeds for each.

Cost of installing ufh in new build extension.

Thanks, I thought it was not a huge job. I guess the floor screed might take a tad longer than for standard screed, probably using a lightweight aggregate.
