Cost of installing ufh in new build extension.

Area is about 40m2 and probably two loops. I'm not too concerned about the material price as there are several online sellers providing all the necessary parts. I'm interested in what you think the labour cost would be from radiators to wet ufh.

Cost of installing ufh in new build extension.

Can anyone give me an idea of the cost implication for changing from wet rads to wet ufh on a new build? I would assume that the oversite concrete and the 100mm celotex insulation would be the same, it's just that ufh pipes are laid before the floor screed is applied. Obviously there would be...

    Heat efficient rads

Thanks John, I think I have seen the boiler temp display flicking from a figure of around 50ish when in cycle mode. The boiler is a Vaillant 835?EcoPlus and I’m not sure if there are hidden menus to let you the flow and return temps. I’ve also reduced the boiler temp to 65C to try and save on...

    Heat efficient rads

Putting it like that there does appear to be a mismatch somewhere. When I put the boiler on tomorrow I’ll check to see if the boiler does go into a cycle mode. I’m pretty sure the system is fairly well balanced but I will check that to. Out of interest there are several ways to balance a...

    Heat efficient rads

Sorry, meant 36kw. My concern is the time it takes the water in the rads to get hot, not the heat in the room. Surely if the quantity of water in the system is reduced then the time to heat it up would be less.

    Heat efficient rads

My house has 14 rads from the 70's and 80's and I've noticed the heat up time is around an hour to full working temperature, I guess due to the volume of water in the system. Boiler size is a combi 36k btu. Do new high efficiency rads contain less water if so by how much?

Would the Drayton Wiser system save money?

Ahh, didn't read your post fully. I could put the smart TRV in the separate toilet adjacent to the bathroom. As the TRV's in the bedrooms on that floor are virtually off then the bathroom would be controlled by the toilet.

Would the Drayton Wiser system save money?

I refer to our master bedroom as an en-suite. I've never had a problem with the TRV in our bathroom and they've been fitted for over 20 years now. I've got one in our Utility which is quite a small space with no windows and has the dishwasher and washing machine in it and gets a lot of...

Would the Drayton Wiser system save money?

Top floor is just our en-suite with the two rads. The middle floor has three bedrooms with a rad in each. There is a bathroom and separate toilet also on this floor with a rad in each. The downstairs is open plan from loiunge/diner thro sun room and around to the kitchen. The doors leading into...

Would the Drayton Wiser system save money?

I have a three story detached house which has 16 radiators. Currently we use the Digistat on manual control. The bottom floor is open plan from the diner thro to lounge then sun room and around to the kitchen. There are 5 radiators covering this area, two large ones in the lounge/dining area...

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Been putting the fallen tiles back on over the last few days. Buttered the wall and then combed the tile with the same Weber ready mix and they seem to be holding well. RH has now fallen to around 59% and I've put on some gentle heat to get the temp to around 14C. Fingers crossed. Thanks for...

    Recommendations for angled rad supplier

Thanks, was just reading their web page. They are true welder/fabricators which I like.

    Recommendations for angled rad supplier

I need a 4 angled rad for both the downstairs and upstairs bay windows, preferably doubles. I've done Google and there are quite a few suppliers but would like some recommendations as to the quality of work especially the welding and whether they are leak tested before sending.

    Boiler gas consumption

We have the Octopus Smart Meter app too and it's brilliant. But with the heating on at the moment it's difficult to see what hot water is. Think I will take a reading before and after doing the washing up.

    Boiler gas consumption

I’m just trying to work out what it costs to run hot water. Before the advice was it’s more economical to use a dishwasher. But with the increase in the cost of energy I’m wondering if going back to hand washing is better, especially as there only the two of us now.

    Boiler gas consumption

I did but couldn’t see any reference to gas consumption.

    Boiler gas consumption

I have a 35kW combi boiler. Can I assume that is the input energy so if I divide by 10.55kW per cubic metre of gas that equals 3.3 cubic metres of gas per hour. Am i correct?

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Just over heard a conversation between a customer and his builder who was refurbishing their kitchen. He'd plastered walls and then tiled and the client was telling him a bit angrily that the tiles were falling off. The builder was telling him that the weather was too damp and cold to allow...

Which thing uses about 30watts, the fan or the pump?

I would get the guy out who installed it to check it out especially if it's under warranty. You could phone WB direct but there are plently of WB approved heating engineers about.
