    Removing textured ceiling/wall surfaces

Hi, Our house three textured ceilings and one part-textured wall. Each one of them a different texture and all of them hideous! A quick Google suggests these could be removed by spraying with water and then scraping off. Anyone done that with success? Also, it seems to mostly be for the...

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

Thanks. Yeah appealing is the plan. Would you be able to share the planning references from the appeals you mention as I think they would help with our appeal.

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

Looking at your case, the situation is slightly different. Yours is a full planning application whereas mine is permitted development. We already knew we couldn't get planning permission as they council view our house is already increased too much from the initial footprint. I would guess this...

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

If anyone has access that would be great as it would save me the cost of joining. I have found one appeal via Google with a 25mm gap which was eventually deemed lawful. Yes the architect had been in touch and we knew a couple days beforehand this was the likely outcome. Much as he tried...

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

Thanks, that's good to hear. Would you mind PM'ing me any planning reference numbers so I can reference it in our appeal?

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

Thanks for the reply. I've uploaded it here: http://imgur.com/a/0EZHB I suspect little past the second page is pertinent - on the second page they say: "It needs to be established which Class of Part 1, of Schedule 2 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England)...

Permitted Development Outbuilding - distance from property

Our council have just refused a certificate of lawfulness for an outbuilding with a 150mm gap from our house. The permitted development guidance for outbuildings does not specify a minimum distance from the main house, and we have heard of others having gaps as small as 25mm deemed lawful. As...

    How close to build?

Just wondering if anyone has a source for this 25mm figure as I've seen it mentioned a few times but never seen a definitive source. Our council have just refused a certificate of lawfulness for an outbuilding with a 150mm gap, so I'm looking for sufficient information to appeal. Thanks

What size end cap do I need?

Cheers, I'll give it a go.... The other option I suppose is to replace the section of the main trap that contains the middle connector (below) with one that is just straight: But I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for - this has a screw thread rather than the push/compression most use and...

What size end cap do I need?

Thanks, only other problem is I really need it tomorrow, and can't find it in stock anywhere that'll be open tomorrow...! Would this be an alternative...? http://www.screwfix.com/p/bsp-brass-female-cylinder-blank-1/21851 Or do brass and plastic not mix well?

What size end cap do I need?

Hi all, Probably a very simple question, but it's left me baffled... We're moving out of our house and where I've disconnected the dishwasher's waste pipe from the kitchen sink's main waste pipe, I'm obviously left with a hole - see below: IMAG0747 by PeteWilliams posted 24 Oct 2015 at 6:34...

    Low water pressure

Hiya, The water pressure at our house is incredibly low (and has been since we moved in a couple years ago). At our kitchen tap we get 4 litres per minute. If I plug a sprinkler in outside it 'sprays' about 2 inches. I got Thames Water to come out and have a look at it and they measured...

    No power to electric oven.

Actually, yes - and it's saved me hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. Last time my oven broke I got some advice online and fixed it myself for a few quid. Sorry if that upsets you.

    No power to electric oven.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried this and the other device worked fine.

    No power to electric oven.

The wife has just mentioned that she was using the oven when it went - apparently she heard it make bang and then it went off. This suggests it might have been the element blowing (even though it wasn't even a year old), but why would it still not come back on? Last time when the element blew...

    No power to electric oven.

We've got two ovens (instead of a double oven) and one of them has stopped working. They are both the same model - the Terim T06600SS. There is no heat/fan/light or anything - it seems like it's just not getting any power. The element blew last year but then the fan and light still worked so...

What screws to use with flush mounts to hang mirror frame?

I think the problem is that I don't understand how the widths are measured so can't work out what screws I need! How do I work out the width of the screw that did fit - where do I measure and in what units? Sorry, bit of a newb at this!

What screws to use with flush mounts to hang mirror frame?

I had been using countersunk screws, but the heads are still too big, see below. The one on the left is the tiny 15mm screw, whose head is OK, the one on the right is the next size up but the head is already too big. Pete
