Studding up a doorway & tiling over - best way to do it?

I've converted our bathroom to one complete room from the two rooms it was before. I'll now be studding up one of the doorways, and it's 99% likely there will be a shower installed on that wall. Normally I would do the studwork and then plasterboard, but is there a better material/method...

Help - WC connector won't stay on!!

Yeah, I'm starting to think that, it must be the toilet as I have tried other connectors I have (all dry) and they just slowly pop off!! As has been said, I may have to push one on, hold it in place with something and silicone it.

Help - WC connector won't stay on!!

On the WC? Possible I suppose. But I have tried various connectors that I have kicking about (all were new), 90 deg, straight, offset - they all do the same - pop off slowly. I know they will stay in place once the pipework is braced and the WC fixed to floor/wall but it's not ideal...

Well, dried off WC connection and tried a new connector - still popping off!! Should I try scuffing it up a bit?

Not likely to be a supporting wall? Just double checking!

Oh, and am I supposed to get permission before I do it? The way I read our local council sites advice on building control, unless it's loadbearing or a structural feature we don't need to apply for permission. Also, it mentions that fitting WC, bath, shower, etc needs permission? Surely...

Help - WC connector won't stay on!!

Just been down to plumbers merchants and got some pan connectors, etc. Tried fitting the striaght connector on and it just pops straight off again!! The connectors are for 110mm as usual. The outlet on the WC is tapered but starts at ~ 104mm so shouldn't be any problems there, it is...

Not likely to be a supporting wall? Just double checking!

Yeah, runs parallel to joist and no joist directly above it so can't be supporting anything. There's a rad on it but I've removed that and will be re-routing the pipework :)

Not likely to be a supporting wall? Just double checking!

I have a dividing wall in my upstairs bathroom which is single skin brick. The bathroom is 1700x2600, the wall runs parallel to the 1700 and is 850mm in from outside wall. The joists run same direction as wall. Nothing above it, one joist at 600 from outside wall, then another 600, so...

Please help, WC waste connection - advice needed

I'm not changing the toilet, we like it, it's just something I'll have to deal with. As for checking gap once cistern is fixed, it may get a bit bigger but not a lot, I'll get it roughly in place over weekend and double check. It's looking like I'll have to stud out a little.

Please help, WC waste connection - advice needed

Yeah, I presume it's internal, runs from downstairs, through upstairs to roof. Trouble is as I say, the joists runs the wrong way so I can't just run it down a void, and I imagine that notching into a joist enough to allow WC waste would weaken it too much?

Please help, WC waste connection - advice needed

Right, I took delivery of my suite today. I had previously emailed the manufacturer and asked if there was enough room behind pan to wall to get a 90 deg pan connector out and to one side (horizontally), they said yes. After measuring I think not, sorry about the yellowness, it's my cameras...

Overflow bath fillers - any that work OK on low pressure sys

Thanks for that, a whole house booster pump isn't really suitable at the mo, but maybe an idea for when I have the boiler changed. I will have a look at the Bristan ones, and as I have around 2m head maybe they will be fine? I could always swap the pipe for bigger bore ones although I...

Overflow bath fillers - any that work OK on low pressure sys

I'd like to fit one of the overflow bath fillers with deck mounted valves, like this sort of thing: http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=HEBC0TFUQ0RL2CSTHZOCFFQ?cId=A337243&ts=12889&id=98295 Yet every one I see says 0.5bar minimum. I have gravity feed system with approx...

WC - not enough room for pan connector

Thanks, hopefully the suppliers will be able to clear it up, but I don't really want to stud the wall out if I don't have to, going under the floor creates more hassle as well, but not the end of the world.

WC - not enough room for pan connector

Been narrowing down various bathroom suites and are getting close now. The current WC is right next to the vertical soil pipe and is connected via a 90 degree pan connector, then a straight connector, then into soil pipe. Some of the WC's we are looking at are of this sort of style...

Bolier relocation - what type & pipework alterations

Our house still has the original boiler, which is an Ideal E-Type with pump, open flue with flue running through the house to a ridge vent. Gravity system with cw tank in loft. Pipework from boiler goes up wall alongside it and into airing cupboard above. As I'm doing more & more work in...

    Sink Plumbing

Sounds to me like the method you suggest would mean that it falls then rises to go back to soil, which would cause a problem with water sitting in the pipe, and possibly not draining unless there was enough pressure. Can't you just notch out the joists where it would run across them and keep...
