    LV transformer Q

I mean should I worry, just like the majority of the other DIY sparks that post on this board. I have done electrical work in my parents house which is now up for sale with no questions asked. As the sellers pack seems to have died a death, as long as you work to regs I can't see what bother...

    LV transformer Q

I suppose, saves losing all the lights at once as well. Now with the Part P, I never really bothered worrying before, but as we are looking to sell up when finished and many saying that a spark is unlikely to test an installation after work has been done by somebody else, I ofen wonder if I...

    LV transformer Q

Oh and it's in a bathroom, how do I go about notifying building control? Will I have to pay a fee? I'm an electrical engineer but work on industrial stuff, although I have passed C&G 2381. Does this mean I can do the work but need it to be inspected? I have a friend who is employed as a...

    LV transformer Q

Really? I thought it was beneficial to use a large transformer on multiple lamps. It makes no odds to me for ease of wiring, although 4 separate 20-60VA trannies would be more expensive than 2x35-105 or 1x50-150VA.

    LV transformer Q

I need to wire up 4 35W LV downlighters, but the 50-150VA transformers I have seen only have 3 output terminals. Is it OK to parallel up from one lamp to another, or would I be better off using two separate 35-105VA transfomers, with 2 lamps on each?

    Buying Taps

As above, you can get those style taps by various manufacturers, although the set you linked to seem reasonably priced. A set from say Bristan, or Rhoper RHodes in same style would be more. My local plumbers merchant sells a lot of lecico stuff, and they have some taps same style as that...

Studding up a doorway & tiling over - best way to do it?

Thanks, I have seen tanking mentioned before. What is it exactly? Like a waterproof sealant type thing?

    Any bathroom planners on here?

I did think that, but not sure if it would look odd, and maybe not gain a lot. I too have done a scale plan with scale cutouts to shuffle around and that is how I came to that conclusion above. The more I think about it, I think it will be too cramped with a shower in. Great shame as I...

    Any bathroom planners on here?

After some advice on a layout. Have knocked a dividing wall down in bathroom to give more space, and we hoped we could fit a shower in. Below is a plan of what I feel is the best for space, but not sure if it will still be a little cramped around the WC area. I was advised to leave 200mm...

    Blowtorch for DIY soldering?

How do you mean flush the pipe Nige? With water?

    Blowtorch for DIY soldering?

I've got a few bits of pipework to do and had decided that anything going underfloor/being covered over will be soldered for piece of mind, and compression fittings looks so bulky! What sort of torch should I be looking at for occasional DIY use? Have heard the pencil type have poor heat...

Bathroom products and brands - The Good and the Bad

Bristan have great aftersales, granted, but the amount of time my last monobloc has broken is enough to put me off buying them this time around.

Which waste type is best? push-fit, uni compression, solvent

Oh, and incidentally I may be taking some of my 110mm WC waste under the floor, can you get solvent weld in that size?

Which waste type is best? push-fit, uni compression, solvent

Well, no, you're right there, but solvent weld isn't any good if you need to change anything or add to it, or at least not as easy as a push fit/compression system. But I agree it looks neater and isn't going to leak!

I'll take a look, can it be cut?

Thanks for that, was it particuarly expensive?

Which waste type is best? push-fit, uni compression, solvent

OK thanks, I did think that solvent weld would be preferred underfloor. Above floor push fit? Looks neatest to me.

Which waste type is best? push-fit, uni compression, solvent

Re-doing the waste pipe in my bathroom (sink & bath) and just about to put an order in at screfix, but wondering what is considered the best type to use? I have used push fit before, and the stuff that is already there is uni-compression. Some of it, possibly all of it, will be going under...

Help - WC connector won't stay on!!

Very funny. Supplied by TC bathrooms UK, although I imagine they are made outside of UK, but then most stuff is. Anyway, I've sorted it! Had an offset connector kicking about so tried this, and it was fine, solid as a rock!! Same make as others, so swapped the seal from this one to the...
