    3-Phase Supply

How can you tell whether you have a 60, 80 or 100A supply? Is it what the fuses are rated at.. rather than a larger single-phase cable coming into the property?

    3-Phase Supply

Sorry, my fault. I mean kVa, I was just curious how much a standard 3-phase supply cable will carry? The house has 5 bedrooms and an indoor pool.

    Additional D.B.?

When you say 'new' supply, I am currently on single-phase. I assume you don't mean I would need to upgrade to a 3-phase supply. Or do you mean a 'bigger' single-phase supply? Can you upgrade a single phase supply, I thought that they were all the same size and capabilty.

    Accumulator Store?

I’m currently looking at installing an accumulator store to serve a 4 double bedroom house, there are 2 bathrooms and 2 shower rooms. I’ve had a brief look at the information on the stores and notice that the vessel capacity is actually around half of the total volume. That said, I am...

    Additional D.B.?

I would like to ask the experts a question please; a new build house is going to be built with an attached annexe area (to be occupied by an elderly family member). The D.B. for the main house will be quite far away from the annexe area, would you run a sub main across to serve an additional...

    GAS PIPE SIZE TO METER

Thanks for the quick response. I understand it is National Grid now. Should be no problems then hopefully. I'll see how canny they are! Length to property will be around 10-15m

    GAS PIPE SIZE TO METER

I have an existing domestic size gas meter installed in my property, but will require a larger meter 16m3 capacity installed to cater for 2no.45kW boilers to serve a large extension. It looks like the supply pipe diameter from the road is 25mm yellow MDPE. In your experience, have you seen...

    RADIATORS WITHIN TIMBER BOXING????

I have an old house where the existing radiators are under the windows behind wooden panels, none of the rads currently have TRV's. I want to replace them all with new rads housed within the same boxing but I am aware that new installations need TRV's on the rads (other than the rad operating...

    Electric 'Loadings'

Thanks, the job is not a domestic house, it is an upgrade to a supply currently serving a large site with 2 existing buildings and 2 new buildings. It only has to be a rough guide as lighting and socket circuits have yet to be decided. How many kW can a domestic supply serve is is around 20kW...

    Electric 'Loadings'

Just after some advice please guys I need to fill in a form for United Utilities regarding an upgraded electric supply. There is a section that asks for the anticipated loadings. Is there a rough way of working out what the load requirements may be i.e. no. of lights, small loads etc. do they...

    Cold Room U/F heating

Could anyone offer some advice as to why a large room with underfloor heating is getting no higher than 14-16degC. The rest of the house is fine so the boiler must be operating correctly. The room temp is normally ok in winter and heats up sufficiently. Could there be air in the system, or the...

    IS THIS GOOD PRESSURE?

Thanks for your replies, I take on board all your comments. I agree to fit a bank of gas Rinnai's would need a large gas supply, to which I don't think would be available, also the space required / flueing and whole installation (not to mention servicing) would seem more expensive than a 600...

    IS THIS GOOD PRESSURE?

Thanks for your replies. The accumulator store seems like the best and most feasible option, you have said an accumulator with 600 litre capacity and mentioned 6 showers at 10 litres/min = 60 litres/min. Presumably the accumulator will be adequate for the 6 showers running for 10 mins (worst...

    IS THIS GOOD PRESSURE?

Because, I have learnt that not all plumbers know what they are doing. I want to find out from you guys what you think before he fits the system. The new hot water system will be a 600 litre mains pressure cylinder feeding the showers, sinks and basins. Its the 30 litres per minute flow...
