    Weeds.. growing from underneath new layed lawn.. grr

    When you turned your soil ,you started a new batch of weeds but only the ones in the cracks got air and light to grow, if your lawn is thick the weeds won't grow. As to the cracks or seams you can hand pull or use a weed spray keeping in mind your watering them as well as the lawn.

    Preparing for new lawn

    If you have clay you can put down 3 inch of topsoil and add turf, water well for 2 weeks. If the ground is too high, you will have to shave off to about half the depth of clay ,less in the center. The topsoil and turf will settle in time reducing the overall height.

    i would guess you have sandy soil with to much drainage. If so you can dig out 1 foot of soil or build up, your choice. the new mix should be clay and peat moss, these will retain water. Also large shrubs will shade the ground retaining moisture.

    use a wooden ladder as opposed to aluminium,also use a roller with a handle just long enough to reach comfortably.also rubber gloves and rubber boots to play safe.

    tin baths or galvanized will rust if drilled or scratched. get a wood , plastic or metal mount and use the glue in a tube they use to join brick tops to cement walls, after it drys it will hold firmly.

    I use heat shrink for binding together batteries to make packs of 6,8,10 etc. but I,m talking about 1-2 mm dia wire with insulation I can,t find heat shrink that small.

    Check around for your people that make stainless restaurant kitchen hoods and like, they might have a stainless steel expanded metal piece left over from an old range. it might need a couple of stainless bars welded to it to aid in stiffening.

    try WMI (waste management industries) or your local garbage pickup . they use a powder for their garbage containers that will kill anything. Next try a carpet cleaner, they have a similar product to clean and de-smell carpets when someone dies in a house. good luck. only in canada eh!
