Point taken, but it needs to be a bespoke recording anyway.

    BT Versatility Music on Hold

Hi, i have acquired a used BT versatility system and am ready to install it. I am pretty confident on the standard set up and how to wire the extensions and configure it. In terms of enabling MOH, it seems I need a MOH module and also an options module (which I dont have but seem readily...

Anyone dared test an RCD this way ?

I'm sure it is safe...if not a little uncomfortable. Do you actually think there is a risk of serious harm ? (assuming the RCD has been tested in a more conventional manner and proved operable)

Anyone dared test an RCD this way ?

I'm still alive . I wast just thinking that as an RCD is supplementary protection against electric shock, to prevent ventricular fibrillation, what the actual effects were on the body before it operates. Of course I didn't really propose that people shoud stick their fingers behind a live...

Anyone dared test an RCD this way ?

I'm just curious, but has anyone deliberately or accidently touched a live supply and tripped a 30ma RCD, and if so, did they feel a shock before the RCD operated ? Theoretically it should trip within 2/10 of a second at 30ma fault current and usually around 25-40ms so I would expect it...

New fixed appliance sockets inside kitchen cupboards?

I wouldn't have thought that an integrated appliance required PAT testing as its not a portable appliance !

    Consumer Unit Advice:

Sorry to be brusque but if you dont know the size and type then you should not contemplate DIY electrics. CU change is a big responsibility, are you confident you know what you are doing in order to prevent fire or shock hazards to your kids/family/self ?

Ban All Sheds or Ban Ban All Sheds

I find the sheds that ban all sheds would like to ban to be in the most part convenient, useful and helpful, and are becoming increasingly good value. However, I find that ban all sheds is in the most part tedious, boring and unhelpful, and is becoming increasingly irritating. You can...

    Socket under sink

The point is when considering "the environment" you should not have to consider worst case scenarios, i.e. you can assume that plumbing will not leak, otherwise where will you draw the line, IP68 rated accessories throughout the house ? What if the roof leaks, all over the upstairs...

    Spot the 'deliberate' mistake

All the rcbos ive worked on have the neutral connection at the rear, the rcbo on the rhs looks as though the neutrals and lines are connected reverse polarity ?

    Shower Isolator Location

    i) You should NOT have a pull switch within reach of a person using a shower. ii) iii) I haven't added any words to the regs and I haven't added any words to whatanyone has said or at least not that I'm aware of !

    Central Heating programmer not working

If no pwer to programmer you need to trace where its supply comes from - either the boiler or a junction box usually or it could be on its own spur.

    downlights in pitched roof

In terms of the fitting, you cant have any insulation directly above it within a 5" void so you really only have the options I pointed out earlier, or surface mounted. Good luck !

    Central Heating programmer not working

Firstly, you should try and get Nick back. His number should be on your minor works or electrical installation cert. If he doesnt respond contact his scheme operator, e.g. NICEIC or ECA or NAPIT etc and make a formal complaint. It could be he's wired the thermostat incorrectly, and he should...

    Shower Isolator Location

No ,each piece of equipment does not necessarily require its own, discrete means of isolation as the main switch could be deemed to serve all of the above if the CU were located, say, in the hallway of a one storey dwelling. I'm certainly not saying you would do this but in terms of the OP i am...

    Shower Isolator Location

You don't seem to have grasped the difference of switching off for mechanical maintenance, and isolation. However, the same device may be used for both. In BS7671 mechanical maintenance is replacement, refurbishment or cleaning of lamps and non electrical parts. Furthermore, switching off...
