Hard wiring a like for like cooker Belling 665

You may find that the instructions state heat resistant flex should be used, in maybe 4sq mm or even bigger flex. Many sparks just use twin and earth as sounds the case from your existing cooker. I'm not sure whether this is a big issue as I cant see the outer shell of an oven should get too...

Accenta G4 false alarms and double knock

Pretty much as I thought, its just you are talking about two pairs of units, the earlier post was about a twin beam unit. I cant see how the twin beam unit can avoid false detections from say a squirrell or mouse interupting the beams as the beams from such a unit would be far apart enough to...

Accenta G4 false alarms and double knock

Sounds a good idea. How do the two beams work, presumably the beams can only be apart by a small amount, how wide are the units ?

Accenta G4 false alarms and double knock

Thanks breezer, I get the 10 minutes bit, but in practice when does a trigger from a PIR start and stop ? e.g I am a burglar and double knock is enabled. I break into the shed, the PIR detects me and goes into double knock timer. Can I move around freely for the next 10 mins, or does the first...

Accenta G4 false alarms and double knock

I have installed Accenta G4 panel with 2 PIRs, one in a portacabin used as an office (zone1), the other (zone 2) in a big wooden shed/workshop which is drafty/may have rat vistors ! Zone 2 alarmed, at 0530 a couple of days after installation. There had been no (human) entry. After reading up...

    Accenta Gen4 Tamper Lockout

As the subject line implies, I have a tamper lockout on newly installed alarm, with just two sensors, bell and 1 remote keypad. I have tried to link out the tamper circuits to the bell (TA) , the RKP (TAMP) on the left side of the panel, and the main tamper loop TAMP terminals. What I found...

    Additional Consumer Unit

Hmmmm, thats an interesting and valid point...does that mean all installations have an RCD between concealed meter tails < 50mm deep and the CU ?

    Additional Consumer Unit

Thanks, good points. But you don't have a problem with the 16mm tails ? The way see it is better to diversify the additional load to an additional CU, and I would be protecting the long(ish) tails via 60A fuse.

    Additional Consumer Unit

Yes, thought about that its just that the T&E would be more "manageable" inside, in that it can be buried behind standard dot and dab dry wall and can be concealed up to and including CU (inside utility room) PS. connecting the SWA to T&E inside box, I'm assuming i will need to a henley, or...

    Additional Consumer Unit

A large extension (utility, kitchen, cloakroom, dayroom, 2 beds, 2 ensuites plus garage) The existing CU has no RCD. Proposal: From meter tails install henley block and 60A switch fuse. From switch fuse run 16sq mm 3 core SWA 7 Meters to IP65 box along outside wall. Within IP65...

    Smoke Detectors Certification

I am still wondering if many sparks are issuing these, as from what I can tell sound level meters are very expensive, and then require calibration etc. What I have done is put a "n/a" on the sound level entry box, and cross fingers to see if it gets by the LABC. Nobody at any of the three...

    Smoke Detectors Certification

I admited as much. I meant GRADE, not class  D: Grade Description and explanation D A system of one or more mains-powered smoke alarms, each with an integral standby supply. The system may, in addition, incorporate one or more mains-powered heat alarms, each with an integral...

    Smoke Detectors Certification

The "LD" classification is from BS 5839-6 and has been around since at least 1995 I think. Can I assume that you have never installed/certificated a domestic smoke alarm installation then ?

    Smoke Detectors Certification

As well as the BS7671 certification for mains powered battery backup smoke and heat detectors, my local building control are requesting a BS5839 certificat for new installs. I have never issued these, although I have a pad from the NICEIC. The sticking point is the entries required for sound...

    Structured Cabling RJ45 adapter

Thanks Plugwash. The lines are BT featurelines, which basically provide PBX functionality, but from the BT exchange, and, AFAIK, are presented as norrmal PSTN circuits. They terminate as just normal pairs (10 pair incoming cable) in what from memory is a boxcon 301. I have kroned to...

    Structured Cabling RJ45 adapter

I've recently installed some CAT5 structured cabling. BT have terminated 10 phone line pairs into a krone strip. I have cabled fom here to an Rj45 patch panel, each pair into pins 4 & 5 on each outlet. When I connect a phone via an RJ45 adapter into the patch panel, I get dial tone and can make...

    Mulltifunction tester advise

I have the 1653.Didn't rate it at first, actually wanted my old separate robin testers back, but once you get used to zeroing properly, and get a decent set of leads, then its great.
