Recessed gas box and cavity tray, dpm

Hi. I've made an opening for gas meter. I've installed lintel. Do I need cavity tray or damp proofing? Will be in extension that's currently being built from blocks and finish will be K render. Also I would like to go for black hockey stick that goes inside cavity. I know it needs to be...

Advice on Block work corners for extension

I use 2 buckets of sand and half bucket of cement at a time. I add this to water in flexitub. Quick mix with shovel. Then mix with paddle on drill. Comes out perfect everytime. ;)

Advice on Block work corners for extension

Weather has not favored me either. I've had to cover up many times also. Use plasterciser in the mix. Below dpc is 3:1 mix. Above 5:1 is fine but I'm using 4:1 (easier to work out) Don't think you will need wall ties for 1st two courses if you are filling up with concrete but best double check...

Advice on Block work corners for extension

I'm 8 blocks above dpc. Are you using trench blocks? As any cavity 225mm below (1 block) needs to be filled with concrete. I used foundation blocks. Normal block one before dpc. Don't forget wall ties. Start at edges to allow insulation to sit. Also air bricks and wall starter kit to tie wall...

Advice on Block work corners for extension

Hi. I'm taking too long with my corner work. Filling the blocks in between are easy. I'm cobalt checking that the block is level from all sides then using a small level to check the block itself. Then I'm checking that it's 9 inches in height. I don't have a builders profile. But there must...

    Plasterboarded room a while ago.

Hi. I plasterboarded bedroom with ensuite 8 months ago. Didn't get it skimmed right away. The room is heated. My question is how long can a room be boarded before skimming? Would there be need for further measures like pva? Ensuite will be tiled would that require anything additional? Cheers

Pillar between door and window on extension

Thanks. Finally do the calculations apply to internal leaf or external as both would produce different outcomes.

Pillar between door and window on extension

What is this 2/3 & 1/3 rule? door opening is 135cm and window will be 150cm wide. Internally the width is 4.27m. 66.7% opening. Does that mean I'm within or out of the rule according to the strict Bco? Outer skin I'm with in. (y)

Pillar between door and window on extension

The pillar is equivalent to single block length. So will stack one block on another. Will use wall ties on each one. How would I achieve extra 17mm. Blocks are 440mm wide. Cheers

Pillar between door and window on extension

Hi. I've decided to keep pillar between door and window at 450mm on rear extension. The door is 1300mm. Window is going to be 1500mm wide. My question can the pillar be made of single blocks on one another. Or is it best to cut them in 1/3 and 3/4 and then build like brickwork?. Cheers
