Cheers for the advice GasandOilman. Asked around friends but nobody can remember who they used and the ones who can, the engineers have retired. I am weary of going off adverts alone so I'll hang in there and see if anyone manages to find a number hidden away in a drawer somewhere.

Are there any Corgi registered Central Heating Engineers on this site interested in looking at my central heating system for me? I'm in the Merseyside area

Just switched off the TRVs on the two upstairs radiators and left on the TRV on the cold one, making sure the outlet valve on the radiator is open. I'll let you know how I get on........ :wink:

**Shameless Bump** Can anybody offer any advice? I have checked the pin in the TRV and it pushes in and out fine but the radiator is still cold. I have pushed the pin in manually for 5 mins but radiator still doesn't warm. Could I need a new TRV?

Sorry about that. Only realised I could email pics from my phone and so, took pic on my phone. OK, so I managed to get the TRV off (see below). Should I be tapping the pin in or pulling the pin out a little? How long should it be before the radiator warms up? The rubber interior...

Do I have to isolate the water supply before loosening this nut? I don't think that's what I'm looking to do. I'm actually after just 'popping off' the white cap to reveal the underneath

Thanks for the advice. I pealed back the membrane and used a form to create a few holes around the plants. Membrane then put back with bark chippings. I've also been watering during evening time. To be honest, the plants are looking better already. We've had loads of rain this weekend too...
