Wanted - Reliable Central Heating Engineer in North West

Cheers for the advice GasandOilman. Asked around friends but nobody can remember who they used and the ones who can, the engineers have retired. I am weary of going off adverts alone so I'll hang in there and see if anyone manages to find a number hidden away in a drawer somewhere.

Wanted - Reliable Central Heating Engineer in North West

Are there any Corgi registered Central Heating Engineers on this site interested in looking at my central heating system for me? I'm in the Merseyside area

    Danfoss TRV

Just switched off the TRVs on the two upstairs radiators and left on the TRV on the cold one, making sure the outlet valve on the radiator is open. I'll let you know how I get on........

    Danfoss TRV

**Shameless Bump** Can anybody offer any advice? I have checked the pin in the TRV and it pushes in and out fine but the radiator is still cold. I have pushed the pin in manually for 5 mins but radiator still doesn't warm. Could I need a new TRV?

    Danfoss TRV

Sorry about that. Only realised I could email pics from my phone and so, took pic on my phone. OK, so I managed to get the TRV off (see below). Should I be tapping the pin in or pulling the pin out a little? How long should it be before the radiator warms up? The rubber interior...

    Danfoss TRV

Here's the actual TRV if this helps. I am assuming it is something to do with the little screw (click on image to enlarge it) By the way, I'm decorating (before anyone comments on the state of the house :o )

    Danfoss TRV

Do I have to isolate the water supply before loosening this nut? I don't think that's what I'm looking to do. I'm actually after just 'popping off' the white cap to reveal the underneath

    Danfoss TRV

Anybody advice me how to remove the head on a Danfoss TRV? My radiator is cold. The entry pipe is boiling hot and the return pipe cold. I have been advised to try and gently tap the 'pin' hidden underneath the cap of the TRV. I am just struggling to remove the cover off the TRV. The cover is...

    Boiler / Radiator Problem

That's what I couldn't get my head around. As the boiler only started playing up that same evening, I am assuming there was still hot water in the water tank. Basically, I have my boiler downstairs and my hot water tank (emergin?) upstairs in the bedroom. My boiler is a Chaffoteaux Challenger...

    Boiler / Radiator Problem

My central heating has been working fine up until today when I returned home from work. Whilst in the kitchen, the boiler fired up as it is supposed to (set on a timer). It began to make some bizarre noises though......like a chugging noise. I looked through the "magic looking hole" and it was...

    Shower Rail

I have a circle shower rail similar to this one: Now, since putting it up a few weeks ago, the curtain rail has drooped more and more and more, so much so that the two top screws have now come out of the wall. The wall is a cavity wall and so, the screws are only screwing into the...

    Rats - Any Ideas?

We have a dog but our vet told us to keep her away from them due to the diseases that they carry that can kill domestic animals

    Planting Lillies

My front garden / wall is facing south-south east. To be honest, I'm not sure what type of lillies they are - the bag of bulbs I got contained a mixture and I no longer have the packet (sorry  )

How Often Should I Be Watering?

Thanks for the advice. I pealed back the membrane and used a form to create a few holes around the plants. Membrane then put back with bark chippings. I've also been watering during evening time. To be honest, the plants are looking better already. We've had loads of rain this weekend too...

    Rats - Any Ideas?

JohnD, thanks for the reply. There is no food at all in my front garden. My neighbour puts out loads for the birds though and this is what is attracting them. I have mentioned this to him but he's not playing ball. Unfortunately, when the rats eat the bait, they must scatter off somewhere as I...

    Rats - Any Ideas?

I live just over the road from a private lake and a massive piece of waste land / field. Subsequently, there is the odd rat hanging around. They seem to dig underneath the dividing fence between next doors front garden and ours. I put some poison down about 4 weeks back and didn't see any holes...

    Planting Lillies

I am absolutely new to gardening and am trying to make the most of my small front garden. Approximately 4 weeks ago, I planted 2 lilly bulbs in a small plant pot and placed them on the porch window (nice and warm). These have also been watered regularly. The bulbs have grown and the stems from...

How Often Should I Be Watering?

I've lay a few small plants and climbers in my front garden. The soil surrounding them is covered by weed-preventative membrane and then covered by 1cm of wood chipping. Some of the plants already seem to be dying and I only planted them about 3 weeks ago. I think I may be either...
