    Cleaning radiator with hose

Hi all. I've taken my radiators off and had them stored in a garage. When I took them out they had quite a bit of dirt outside and in as well as dust from the years before. Is it safe to assume I can just hose them down outside before I put them back up? cheers

Patchy painted wood? (waterbased undercoat and satin topcoat)

OK great. I was using white foam rollers with bin though they seemed to disintegrate after a short while and bits of foam all over the paint so will try the small purdy. One problem I have with painting the doors with the undercoat is they go slightly yellow in areas. Also some areas go a bit...

Patchy painted wood? (waterbased undercoat and satin topcoat)

Cool! Some good tips there oops. I used methelated spirits to work with the Bin as it is indeed very difficult to work with as it drys so quick. I will try the amonia to clean my brushes as that seems to work a treat. I have a large bottle of IPA so good to know I can use that to thin as...

Patchy painted wood? (waterbased undercoat and satin topcoat)

Good suggestion, will do that. Will the undercoat adhear to the topcoat ok? The wood was dipped and stripped though some areas are still a bit sticky after a year. Might have to bin primer those.

Patchy painted wood? (waterbased undercoat and satin topcoat)

Hi all, My dad painted the wood in the hallway. On some of the architrave I noticed areas were uneven with dark patches. I applied more topcoat (satinwood) though when it dried it was still a bit patchy. I can only assume he may have watered down the undercoat too much and applied the topcoat...

skimming ceiling that has been stripped with wallpaper removing paste?

Hey all, I got a bucket of wallpaper removing paste I need to get rid of so thinking of using iot to strip the paper off my ceiling. Though was just wondering will any paste residue interfere with the 50/50 pva application before the plaster skim?

Tanking new plaster shower area. Does it need a mist coat before Primer?

I've actually not tiled over it yet. All I know is that it needs powdered plaster as that chemically sets rather than ready mix which sets by moister absorption through plaster. I'm finding the membrane peals off the wall at the edges though I think these were the areas where I painted and it is...

Tanking new plaster shower area. Does it need a mist coat before Primer?

Hi L95, the sand cement is old from the 1920's and had bonding put over it. The tanking went on though cant help but feel it was a bit of a waste of time as the tiles would bond stronger to the plaster. Feel like with enough force one could pull the tile off on a rubber coating. Also definitly...

Tanking new plaster shower area. Does it need a mist coat before Primer?

Hi all, I removed the old skim coat in the shower area exposing the old sand and lime. Had the plasterer skim over that with some bonding. Should have got it properly skimmed really, though there's no time. I want to tank this area. I need to prime it first with the aquaseal tanking primer...

Difference between a 2.3mm and 3.5mm thick steel bath ?

thanks for the replys guys. Yeah I'm starting to sway towards steel more now. I guess it's set back is it can chip the enamel if something drops on it though thinking this can be repaired with milliput. What do you guys think of this steel bath? They don't mention the thickness, is that...

Difference between a 2.3mm and 3.5mm thick steel bath ?

Obviousely one is heavier, though the 3.5 is pretty much double the price of a 2.3mm. Just wondering what are the advantages of a 3.5mm over a 2.3mm and if it makes a huge difference? cheers

Cooker Hood has plug at the end, though my connection is hardwired? Help!

Thanks for the info Adam. It appears all the earth wires in the grey wires are plugged in. The earth wire in the cooker hood hard wire is bare and bent back suggesting it might not have been used for the previouse hood.

Cooker Hood has plug at the end, though my connection is hardwired? Help!

Cheers guys, ok will cut the plug tomorrow, fingers crossed. As for the FCU it looks to have 4 earth wires plugged in. It looks to be part of a circuit with the sockets and oven switch as I remember the FCU did not power when the sockets weren't wired up to a socket switch. Looking at all the...

Cooker Hood has plug at the end, though my connection is hardwired? Help!

Actually ignor that! I just removed some electrical tape from the grey wire and it does indeed have an earth wire included :) so does this mean it is possible to connect? Though will the cooker hood wire definitly have an earth inside if I cut it off?

Cooker Hood has plug at the end, though my connection is hardwired? Help!

So does this mean the plug/wire for the new cooker hood has an earth running through it? Why would there be an earth wire inside the hood? I might take a closer look at the connection, though If the wire is just neutral and live is it safe to assume I can just connect those up to the neutral and...
