    graco machines are the ones to go for , we bought one over 6 years ago and it paid for itself on the first job we did. very usefull for mist coating in new bulids and almost essential for warehouse style jobs. they do tend to use more paint but you save on labour. phil

    Patchy paint on skimmed walls but plaster is grey

    hey sounds like the plaster may still be damp , although six weeks should have allowed it to dry out. maybe there could be damp problems deeper in the wall? try getting hold of a damp meter to test the walls out. grey plaster could have been bonding was it smooth or a little rough? phil

    hey i am a pro decorator and i would always prefer to use oil based satinwood , gloss etc. A good quality oil based will not yellow. As for skirting just sand down the emulsion till it is smooth with the top of the skirting. phil

    if i were you i would just give the walls a damn good rubbing down then go straight over them with a good quality vinyl matt emulsion. acrylic primer a bit over the top.

    One-shot gloss any good?

    i am a pro decorator and usually i would normally say no way to one coat gloss but it does get you out of tight spots and i only use it if really absolutely 100 % necessary!! try using eggshell or satinwood , can usually get away with 1 coat on good wood work. phil
