    Under Floor Heating ???

The T&G floor boards are still down at the moment. It's just that I have 3 full sheets of 18mm MDF & only one sheet of 18mm Ply. That's why I asked about the MDF. I plan to put noggins in & cross members between the joists. Out of interest, why not MDF? Thanks Ian

    Under Floor Heating ???

Hi I want to put underfloor heating in my bathroom. I've been told that, in order to avoid the tiles popping, I need to take up the 18mm Ply. I already have enough 18mm MDF to do the job. Is MDF just as suitable? Thanks Ian

    Megaflow or Combi???????

    1) Is it possible to buy just the washers? The engineer said the insides would be about £70. 2) This isn't the plug holes, it's the basins. The water blasts in so hard it splashes straight out. Believe me, this thing puts out some pressure!

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Well we had the Megaflow installed yesterday. Bloody hell, I never thought I'd say this, but the Shower is a little bit TOO powerful! It's a nice problem to have of course. Maybe I need to buy a larger Dia shower head so I can get a real deluge without the shower head lifting into...

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Well quite often no. It's a warm house, being fairly new & built with modern materials, but sometimes the downstairs rooms are cold (while the upstairs is boiling) & the rads don't seem to be doing their job.

    Megaflow or Combi???????

I'm sure it's not. 2 rads in the same room, one boiling, the other cold! The plumber I spoke to yesterday (the one fitting his Megaflow) said he'd found some poorly designed pipework.

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Some really interesting suggestions. I'm going to have a look at my neighbour's tank to see how hot it is. The idea of having it in the garage or roof space & a small rad in a big empty airing cupboard is is definitely of interest! I think the downstairs rads not heating up is more down to...

    Megaflow or Combi???????

I would say it is, but we do have issues like some of the downstairs rads not getting hot enough & the boiler does seem to work hard, running through the night, which is a bit noisy right under my lad’s bedroom.

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Just had a closer look at the PE pipe. I’ve only got about 5” from ground before stopcock & didn’t want to damage the lagging too much, so I’d just guessed. I’ve now measured it (best I can) at 28mm OD. I’m not sure if the boiler has life in it. It’s 12 years old. I don’t know what the...

    Megaflow or Combi???????

I’m definitely NOT going to attempt this myself! I’ve been quoted £1300 to supply & install the Megaflow CL170HE. I don’t understand what is meant by “vented / unvented”, but I know this Megaflow has to have a vent pipe to the outside in case it blows. We have 22mm Blue PE coming into...

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Thanks guys. Boiler is an "Stelrad/Ideal Elan 2". It's 12 years old & I've extended the house substantially last year.

    Megaflow or Combi???????

Hi Which is the best route to take, a Megaflow HE or Combi Boiler? We’re in a 4-bed house, 2 kids, bathroom & en-suite (2 showers, one bath). We have a traditional gravity-fed boiler & tank set-up, which came when the house was built 12 years ago. The shower used to be OK (not as...

    Free Oak!!!

Hi I've got an Oak tree stump that I want to remove. I was enquiring about a chainsaw today & the chap asked me how big it was. When I told him, he said he thought that some people would be willing to come & take it away for the wood??? (Is this true???). It's just over 6 foot high &...

    180 Degree Door Hinges?????

Hello I have a pair of internal double doors. I want to have them open 180 degrees so they sit flush to the wall. Is this possible? Just went to B&Q to find the hinges, but they didn't have any. What about Architrave on the opening side? Thanks for your help. Ian
