Free Oak!!!

Hi

I've got an Oak tree stump that I want to remove.

I was enquiring about a chainsaw today & the chap asked me how big it was. When I told him, he said he thought that some people would be willing to come & take it away for the wood??? (Is this true???).

It's just over 6 foot high & about 30 inch diametre. I live in Merseyside.

Depends which oak, and condition, try ringing a sawmill.

Shows how much I know, I didn't realise there were different types of Oak.

How long since the tree was felled, the top could be split, discoloured or diseased which will discolour the oak.

Where was the tree growing, most mills will not want to risk damaging a blade and will avoid trees growing along a fence line (imbedded wire) or along the boundry of a property (good place to pin signes etc) 6ft is a bit on the short side to make it worth anything commercially find a woodturner (as I see you have on another forum).

Only way it would be worth anything is it was full of Burrs, then it would be very suitable for veneers.
