    Valiant/megaflo discharge

The cylinder is a megatech CL210 solar, not megaflo. No sign of an EXV anywhere - except the one integral to the boiler (ecotec 624) Yikes - should I be evacuating the house?!

    Valiant/megaflo discharge

Apologies - I don't know where I got 428 from... The boiler is an ECOTEC 624plus. It's a sealed system. (I mentioned the megaflo bubble as I'm not completely sure whether the discharge is from the CH/HW circuit, or from the megaflo heating from cold, and they both discharge through the...

    Valiant/megaflo discharge

Thanks all for your replies I'm going to monitor things, and if it continues or gets worse I'll refill the boiler expansion vessel and regenerate the megaflo bubble Thanks again

    Valiant/megaflo discharge

Hi All Have a megatech HW cylinder heated by a Vailant ecotec 428 boiler. I've noticed that the boiler's water pressure increases from 1.0bar cold, to 1.6bar when hot - is that normal, or does that indicate a fault with the boilers expansion vessel (for example) Also, if i turn the HW...

Woodlock floating floor in room with some setting plaster

I'm fitting a woodlock floor (Kahrs), ideally starting next monday. 2 walls in the room have been re-plastered - one skimmed and another sand and cement rendered and skimmed over - work finishing today. That would leave 6 days before fitting the floor. The floor is being delivered...

Pushfit stop end on heating circuit

Are push fit (JG Speedfit) stop ends ok for central heating circuits? There's a pair of 22mm copper pipes under my floor blocked off with speedfit fittings (I think one is Hep one is JG Speedfit). I don't know how close they are to the active circuit, so I don't know how hot they'll be...

    Radiator opposite window

I understand the theory - of cold feet... but there's not another place in the room that's so convenient. Is the bottom line 'icing on the cake' or serious problem?! At the moment the room is freezing because the french doors have just been installed and aren't finished and cold air can...

    Radiator opposite window

Is it a bad idea to position a rad opposite a window? Or is that an old wives tale? In my case, I've got a rad opposite french doors (timber, 4-6-4 double glazed, well draft proofed). Is that ok, or should I try to reposition it?! Thanks!

    Temporary Inhibitor?

I've just drained and refilled my heating system - water only so far. I've got to drain it down and do more work on it in 2-3 weeks time. Should I add inhibitor? Or will a few weeks au naturel not do too much harm? Thanks!

    Radiator over socket

so does that mean that all JBs under tiled/woodlock/vinyl floors etc aren't allowed ?

    Radiator over socket

Apols if this has been posted before - couldn't find it in the archives... Am I breaking any regulations if I put a radiator over a (double) socket outlet? I imagine it's easier to leave the socket intact to maintain the ring, but I guess I could connect with chocbox and put a blank cover...

    Best make of Radiators

I do need one of a particular size - I'm upgrading a single convector to a double convector, so a same size replacement makes a lot of sense (1400x600)

    Best make of Radiators

anyone got experience with Heat Line rads? Very good value - and numbers look the same as other brands. Thanks

    Best make of Radiators

Just wondering - is there much to chose between the makes of radiators in terms of performance? Who makes the best, reasonably priced double convectors?! Thanks!

    15mm heating circuit

Hi D_Hailsham. Using Stelrad figures - and interpolating a bit for old non convecting rads, and rounding up here and there: Ground floor has: 1400x600 single (soon to be double):1372W (soon 2425W) 1600x600 single non conv: 1000W 2800x600 single non conv: 2500W TOTAL GROUND FLOOR...

    15mm heating circuit

Thanks Agile and D_Hailsham for all your responses. A few questions I can answer: The CH flow is indeed 22mm upto and about 2 metres beyond the motorised valve. 15mm from there. The HW flow and combined return is 22mm Regarding the kitchen rad, we used to have 2 radiators in the room...

    15mm heating circuit

Thanks again for your reply Agile He didn't do it to save copper, he did it because the existing heating circuit went past were the new boiler is and he simply joined into it - resulting in a 15mm circuit. Am I right in thinking that if I ran 22mm pipes down to the 1st floor, tee-ing 15mm...
