    Remove a ceiling joist brace??

I used the mini joist hangers from Screwfix. They worked a treat. Just got to sort the cables into a junction box and we are all done. Thanks for your advice.

    Remove a ceiling joist brace??

It’s about 10kg. I did consider gripit or zip fix plasterboard fixings but I wasn’t happy with it being a ceiling. I did think about joist hangers. I’ve used them before in the garage. I did think though that the underside of the noggin needs to be flush with the ceiling joists as I didn’t want...

    Remove a ceiling joist brace??

That’s what I wanted to do really. Skew screwed or straight through the joists best for fixing??

    Remove a ceiling joist brace??

For me that would be the ideal solution too but that would mean the light fitting would not hang right over the centre line of the table and there is very little room to move the furniture around. It all lines up with all mounted tv too. It’s typical that’s where I need it to be!! I’ve just had...

    Remove a ceiling joist brace??

We have a heavy linear pendant light to install above the dining table. I mapped out a spot directly above the table and planned on putting in a noggin in between the ceiling joists that are 400mm centres. When I’ve cut away the plasterboard there is a cross brace structure in the exact place I...

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Thanks. I might as well ask whilst I’m on a roll. I’ve just looked at the patio door sensor and there are only the black and blue wires connected. I need to remove this zone too over the next few weeks as we are changing to French doors and we don’t want a door sensor. How would I delete this...

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Maybe another thread for a different day but Zone 4 is the patio door. They are the only black and blue wires in the zones and when traced back these are the tamper wires for the landing PIR

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Thanks for taking the time to talk me through this Secureiam. It’s all sorted now. I can’t understand the patio door wire. It has never been connected but during the walk test the door sensor works. The wire may be labelled as something else presumably?

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Interestingly though there’s one labelled up for patio door that’s not even connected!! It looks like it’s been snipped. I’ll have to do a walk test. We’ve lived her 21 years and the patio doors might not even be connected!!!

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Blue and black disconnected and yellow link wire inserted in its place. Cover went back on and no tamper light illuminated so I guess that’s it other than cutting off the sensor.

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Excellent. I can see that now. So once the blue and black are removed and link wire inserted I can safely cut the wire at the sensor end?

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Ok I’ll have a gander this afternoon. So the zones aren’t labelled up on the choc blocs but I presume this is normal? It’s just a case of chasing back the black and blue that are in the same outer sheath as the red and yellow I removed from zone 5? Once I disconnect the blue and black tamper...

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

So I trace the blue and black wires to the choc bloc. Remove them but also insert a link wire where they were similar to the procedure for the zone?

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

Sorry I don’t quite get that. What are the numbers in brackets on your post or are they meant to be uploaded images. So do I trace the blue and black wires that were in zone 5 to the choc block and then just disconnect them and that’s it all done?

Unwanted zone and what to do with door sensor wiring

So the back door was zone 5 and I’ve already removed the red and yellow wires and inserted a link wire. There’s also a link across zone 8 but that was never in use. Sorry if this is a stupid question but are they 4 core cables consisting of Red, Yellow, Blue and Black? If so do I need to trace...
