Hello, Is cavity wall insulation worth it? I've read some horror storied about cavity wall insulation installs, ie insulation material coming through holes, overheating wires, cracking pipes etc etc. We don't have live wires running through cavity now as we had house rewired but we do...

    bank customer service

i'm not really fussed about bank charges. Customers know they are there so why take the chance and go overdrawn? I'm not even bothered about that extra 0.5% interest i could get in some banks. As said before i've had terrifying experiences with Abbey, namely: 1) had to threaten legal...

    Outside pond

I'm not an electrician. From my research I understand that if you connect your pond to a plug for use into a socket you don't need to notify via Building Control. You obviously need some RCD protection to your setup whether you use an FCU or just connect it to a socket. You would need a...

What isolator switch do I need?

how long ago did you book the appointment? I understand why sparks and even the odd dyer pull the fuse. Why put up with this bullshit, having to take a day off work for some muppet not to show up. If I ever need to pull the fuse i'm not even going to bother ringing up, if the spark is happy...

    Underground cables.

I wonder about the state of the cable to supply older houses like mine. I could have a nice new shiny CU with 16mm earth and RCDs everywhere and even a newly fitted cut only to find out at my expense one day how bad underground cabling is...... I think REC should do more to sort these problems...

    rcd on rcd

Hi, If I used one of those portable RCDs and plugged it in, and it tripped would the CU RCD still trip? I am trying to check which appliance is causing nuisance tripping without having the CU cutting out as I am told it is not too good to have the CU RCDs tripping often.
