i find that computer problems are never the same and somtimes are never really understood why that happened etc its alway a learning curve all the time thats why i enjoy looking at this forum . it really was bugging me why mates laptop wont boot xp cd even though it should .

hi yes my first thought so i booted lappy and checked i could read cd files from op system. this has really got me bugged cant understand why it wont work?

hi neeed to reload xp because its so slow corrupted just never been done needs a clean install

hi problem is the laptop just needs operating software reinstalled thats why ive been trying to boot from cd drive . when i try to boot from cd i just get a blank screen

hi laptop is as above advent 6522 and when xp cd is placed in drive it wont boot, does it matter if cd is same as laptop has xp home on base retail version and we tried to boot it from an xp pro cd?

hi thanks seems as del was key to enter bios even though web site told me otherwise managed to get intop bios changed boot to9 boot from cd still wont boot xp disk get setup is inspecting your computer configuration then blank screen nothing else happens what do u think the problem is?

hi all just heard heating making noise like pump or fan running constant went to boiler to see one light flashing slow . manual says fault h burner lockout. i had this happen 2 years ago so i did the same pressed reset switch in for a second or more and it stoped flashing then i restarted...

musthave been an update which caused the problem because i tried a different restore date and its ok now , so much for the updates. i will try updating again and see if problem comes back .

yes but i thought the idea of a admin pass word on vista was also because it makes it harder for changes to be made to the system. as a password is asked for to change settings etc . and its a bit worrying wondering why it seems corrupted the password

yes but if i do that i will lose all my settings for account favorite web pages etc unless i save them . and surely isnt it good to have an admin password for security? vista has been a bit of a pain with problems from day one
