Cost of fitting a kitchen worktop

well... if you consider the cost of the right router (£200), the jig (£100) and a days labour (min £135) you start to get a picture of the costs. Add to that the risk. ie this is a skilled job which if it goes wrong can cost ££££ for new worktops then in my opinion the original cost isnt too...

    ~Old Question I'm afraid

I've tried searching the forum but can't find the answer.... I need to bed a cast shower tray onto a raised base. I plan to use waterproof tile adhesive (cement based) onto a marine ply base, can anyone advise what thickness of ply I should use? Thanks

Hot water, no central heating.... celtic FF

Turn the taps off and ensure the system is demanding heat to the radiators (timer on for heating and thermostat if fitted turned up). Does the boiler fire then? If not i would start looking for a problem with the timer or thermostat. There might be a clue to the problem when you say the...

    Electrical Connection to Central Heating

nb I suppose it would be much simpler to change the existing switched socket for an unswitched one

    Electrical Connection to Central Heating

I think its down to a possibility of incorrect wiring where the switch may not isolate the supply and an unsuspecting service engineer could switch off the switch but still end up working on live wires. The fused spur should also be unswitched (I think for the same reason)

    Myson Apollo Problem

I've now changed the pump and the problem appears to have dissapeared, looks like Chris R was right it was a circulation problem. The pump was working but the inlets were almost closed with oxides. Very satisfying, can't wait until morning when hopefully I will have no alarm call from the boiler!

    Drainage

I am installing a new bathroom. Question: I know it's "preferable" to run the sink/bath waste to a new connection to a vertical soil pipe but in this case its around 5m of difficult run to the external soil stack. Is it permissable to connect to the horizontal 110mm toilet run within the room...

    A couple of questions

Thanks (again) for some very informative answers, I'll give the affected radiators a flush out this weekend! I live in a threee story house and they are on the ground floor and fed by small bore pipe! I'm not completely sure what Chris meant by "ALSO it reduces the head of water available to...

    A couple of questions

I have a standard vented heating setup, Boiler is Apollo. Question 1... how can I tell if my pump is worn or becoming less efficient? It still works but the rads at the far end of the system don't get as hot as they did unless I turn off others in that circuit? (its at least 10 yrs old) Q2...
