What have you been doing today?

As my dogs are usually barking at their dogs who they leave loose for most of the day and, without mine going out to patrol, will sh*t in my garden*. Ditto cats. And since next door did a load of work on their drains, I seem to have a vermin problem too. *their livestock also partially pulled...

What have you been doing today?

Mine do bark a bit when I let them out, but it's mostly my neighbours' fault so I'm hard pressed to care much. (At my old place, any time I let them out at night, I kept the main culprit on a lead.)

What have you been doing today?

A lot of the stuff I'm doing is for letting half of the house. This week between jobs, I've been on Fb Marketplace and the local 'swap shop' groups for some furniture. Currently trying to decide which is most annoying: - when someone lists something, sells it, but never marks it sold or deletes...

    TV lost main radio stations

How do you receive them? When they turned off analogue on a local transmitter years ago here, the digital signal was too weak so I don't get 'terrestrial' radio or TV. I have to use a Sky box.

    Wood work and paints

What are your plans for prep? If you want a good finish, you need to do a lot of prep - sanding and filling - before you pick up a brush. If there's any movement and there's cracks, you need to sort that out too.

What have you been doing today?

You ever tried a magnesium supplement before bed? They're supposed to help with cramps.

What have you been doing today?

Just spent a good almost-two-hours installing a new pendant rose. Black and red wires, switch wasn't labelled. Fortunately, I had tagged all the wires when I removed them. Unfortunately, I had used whatever was to hand, that is masking tape and pencil, neither of which survived a few dobs of...

Alternatives to trim to edge/cap installed tiles?

I wallpapered it for painting yesterday. I think I'm painting it off-white this weekend - need to pick some paint up. Mosaics I have However, I tried how this would look, but wasn't sure. Plus, it's higher than the window/picture rail.

Alternatives to trim to edge/cap installed tiles?

It's a good idea, but sadly, there aren't enough. It just looks amateur and unfinished and bothers me. I called the local tile shop, and the bloke suggested popping to Huws Gray (builders' merchants) as he got similar trim from there. I'll take some better pics tomorrow with a wider angled lens.

Building a vanity under a pedestal basin

Yeah, all the premade stuff is the wrong height. I haunted the local secondhand furniture place too and nothing came up of the right size. It sums up this place quite well - nothing is standard, everything is an odd size, and a nightmare to source.

Alternatives to trim to edge/cap installed tiles?

While I recover from wallpapering, I need to address this: Instead of tiling the whole wall, my late mother finished at picture-rail level. There are no more tiles available, and I can't find a similar or contrasting tile which doesn't look like a dog's breakfast. I was looking at either a...

What have you been doing today?

It's Screwfix 1506P (cheapest) or TS 11844 & they have a slightly different one 17987. (It's lining paper - did I say? I'm painting over.)

Building a vanity under a pedestal basin

Height of pedestal = 65.5cm Wall to front of pedestal = 27cm Wall to front of basin = 45-46cm I did a little tentative plan the other night: Three shelves of two planks each of 80cm, using vertical pieces to support and cover the pedestal. I really like the look of some you posted on the...

What have you been doing today?

Oh no. I'll be making sure the joins are well fillered down. Fingers crossed. Was supposed to be painting today, but am so knackered that I may give the paste an extra day to dry instead. Got loads of other stuff to work on, including two bikes to rebuild. When the dogs move - both are...

What have you been doing today?

I wish I had used a roller! Something learnt for next time. Nice pic. I think I used the same brush for oiling last summer. That got everywhere too. I used paste the wall stuff - one bag and I think I used the equivalent of 3.5 rolls of paper? (It was a 20m roll of the metre-wide stuff, and...

What have you been doing today?

Utterly shattered. Lost my wallpapering cherry. One bathroom and hallway ceiling later, I am totally wrecked. Only thing that compares is oiling the roof last year - spending days going up and down ladders, when not holding on for grim death to the rungs yanking the sprayer around. Two...

    Conservatory window sealing

Is it double glazed? Standard putty attacks the seal between the panes and may pop them. I've just re-glazed my hardwood door with Flexistrip butyl putty tape then replaced the beads. Looks good. You can get foam tape in various widths too. Have a look at dry glazing videos.

    Stripping emulsion off plaster

What type of scraper were you using? I used one of these to do something similar the other day. Admittedly, a very small area, but it worked without digging in when pulling towards me and steadying the head with my other hand: https://www.toolstation.com/general-purpose-scraper/p82217 (Sorry, I...

What have you been doing today?

I was in the local Co-op the other day & they had out-of-date jerseys on the counter. I snagged a bag. Like dates matter for spuds... It's more certain shops that I'm wary of when buying short-dated stuff. Cheap mince from Lidl needs eating or freezing asap, milk from the local convenience...

What have you been doing today?

BTW, I'm not going to get into trouble for posting links, am I? (Just found out I've been banned from another forum. No warning or anything and I don't know if it's for links, but I can't think of anything else. I just don't see why it's worth writing something out when someone explains it...
