    fitting door - bowed frame

ok If they turn out to be straight, and i position my new frame fixings in the right place, the frame should move independent of the nails, and i can punch in any that end up proud. I think, as it is only a few mm, that they can just stay in-situ. So slight that it was totally unnoticeable...

    fitting door - bowed frame

thanks symptoms sounds like a plan. There are no architraves yet, so that's a start. He seems to have accompanied the frame fixings with a Schwarzenneger like fixation with the nail gun in places, so assuming i can prize some of these out, and saw out all the foam, it sounds like a plan!

    kitchen installation

sounds to me like the 'professional' fitters should be strung up, and their Company held to account for all this. As I understand it.... 1. raggling into a wall is accepted practice for electrics etc, but it sounds like these guys have over-done it. If it is under a window, it is likely...

I have a hole in my living room wall to a cupboard housing UFH manifold and a few other bits and pieces. I need to make a door to fit in the hole that can be flush painted white to match in with the room, and apart from a discreet trim, be fairly un-obtrusive. the opening is about 18" wide...

    Mitre-ing tall skirting boards

Firstly, this is not about internal corners, glue vs screws etc! I've digested all that! I am skirting a room with 9" high skirting. There are a number of external corners to worry about. My little plastic coving mitre-box is too small. My mitre saw with the captive saw is not high...

    Do you have to grout?

close butt jointed large format tiles are reasonably common on the continent, however, BS suggests that 2 or 3mm is the minimum allowed for in the UK. we have just had 600 x 600 tiles laid with a 3mm joint. looks good.

    small area - tile adhesive

i am tiling 3 sq metres - large-ish mosaics on a kitchen splashback. Am i alright with a ready mixed adhesive, or should i go with the dry, mix-it-yourself carry on? doing a big area, i would go with the dry stuff, i think. What are thoughts on a ready-mix?
