    Wireless Burglar Alarms....

Are they reliable? I look around the internet and there seems to be a lot of articles saying that they are unreliable, easy to hack, can be jammed, etc. Are they that bad? Or should I just have my old wired system updated?

    Changing from Yellow to Cream

Hi I've bought a bungalow which has it's garage door painted yellow, what's the best way to cover the yellow so that I can paint it cream? I want to do the least coats of paint as possible as it already feels to be a heavy door. I would replace it but finances are running a bit thin for the...

    Painting newly skimmed walls

I sent Dulux a question about what they recommend for the miss/mist coat and here is there response. Dear Mr Cunliffe Thank you for your email. The product I would recommend for fresh plaster still drying out is our Dulux Trade Supermatt. Here is a link providing more information about the...

Sanding old oil based gloss work... skirting boards

Thanks for the reply. I've realised that the sandpaper I was using was rubbish. I bought some Mirka Hiomant Alox in various grits. Just started with the 80 grit and it is working a treat. I also made myself a hand held sanding tool with a handle about 150mm x 55mm and stick the sandpaper on...

Sanding old oil based gloss work... skirting boards

Hi Just had the wall skimmed and now ready to start preparation for glossing the skirting boards and door frames. The paint appears to be oil based. There are a few places where the paint has lifted and in general wasn't painted to the best standard. I've tried some ordinary sandpaper and it...

    Painting newly skimmed walls

    Chimney Capping

Thanks for the replies. Do you think just plaster it over then fit vent or drill holes in skirting board. Nothing to fill the void (I'm guessing doing that would prevent air circulating anyway).

    Chimney Capping

We have just had a pepper pot fitted to the chimney as we are not going to use it at present and will have the fire front plastered over. It is only a small pre-cast flue... what would you do behind the plaster? Anything? Gas fitter says it doesn't need a vent but roofer says it does. Who's right?

    Golden Oak Door Frame....

... what colour door? That's the question. We are having Rehau golden oak Windows and door frames. We just thought we would go with the same for the door but the supplier uses either Eurocell or SoliDor doors and both are a noticeably different colour oak finish. The fitter suggested...

Never gave that a thought! I will ring the planning office. The property is a true bungalow and the wall is non load bearing. I assume there will be a cost for putting in an application? Foxhole good point about the water supply. Still looking for thoughts on original questions but...
