    Ford Fiesta Headlights

Hi guys, I've got a 1996 1.25 Zetec, Mark 4 Fiesta which has been garaged unused for 5 or 6 years. It's booked to be tested the day after tomorrow and the headlights weren't working. Fuses and relay are fine. I checked the easier to access offside bulb which was blown and so bought a couple of...

    skrim tape and joints

If you use a gypsum based solution and you're using a cementitious tile addy, bear in mind you should prime the gypsum first with a suitable primer.

    Sika Maxmix Waterproofer

Thanks gents. I remain unconvinced. I carried out a similar bag of a fag packet experiment some years ago with an SBR based mix of S/C and I'm pretty sure that didn't allow any water to rise above the water level by absorption. This latest mix would appear to be water resistant rather than...

    Sika Maxmix Waterproofer

A few weeks ago I rendered a few internal window reveals with sand and cement and water mixed (in the correct proportions) with this waterproofer. I tipped out what was left in the bucket on to a carrier bag and forgot about it. Yesterday morning, for an experiment, I partially submerged a few...

Fresh Skim vs tired anaglypta wallpaper

Difficult to put a monetary value on the work, but it might be the difference between achieving a sale or not. I'd do it personally I think, but bearing in mind that stripping the paper often reveals more work required than just a skim.

    Peugeot Boxer Glow Plugs

Thanks Mursal, I've just been having a quick look and can't even see the plugs without taking bits off the top of the motor. However, I've located the relay and tapping it lightly with a screwdriver handle has coaxed a little action out of it, so I suspect my instincts were correct. It's just...

    Peugeot Boxer Glow Plugs

I have issues with cold starting on my Boxer at the moment which is clearly a glow plug problem. The light in the cab indicating operation started to go intermittently, and now doesn't come on at all. When it worked the van started fine. My instincts tell me this is more likely to be a relay...

    Bonding Agent options

I've recently used a last quarter of a tub which had been opened 4 or 5 months ago and it was fine, but I've no more lengthy experience than that. I really wanted to try the Thistle Bond-it, but none of my local merchants are stocking it anymore, and all have this one on the shelves. They claim...

    Bonding Agent options

http://www.sovchem.co.uk/plasprime.html I've recently skimmed a few rooms that sound just like yours, a mixture of wallpaper pasted backgrounds, using a few tubs of the above. I've started a thread to see how it compares to Bond it with no joy yet. This is the first time I have used such a...

Concrete Hearth - To remove or not to remove

Yes, that's it. Those old houses have usually got plenty of height to play with. I avoid B and Q for battens, I seem to remember they only do 2.4m and limited sizes. A builder's yard is a much better source. I use 2x1 or 2x2 for this job, combined with window packers or the wedge type packers...

I'd leave it alone and batten out the whole ceiling and overboard.

Thin Coat Angle Beads on Acute/Obtuse Angles

Thanks PBD, I have actually used the stop beads in the past to good effect, however, I have subsequently noticed a barely visible hairline crack between the finish and the unmeshed side of the bead. Nothing to really worry about I suppose, but that would never happen on a double meshed bead.

Thin Coat Angle Beads on Acute/Obtuse Angles

As per title, skimming over walls with the old wooden angle formers, which are handy @ right angles for fixing new galvanised beads. How do you chaps make them fit to other angles? I can imagine just pushing them into an obtuse angle and fixing while holding tight, but what about acute? Do you...

    Jackdaw Nests

Sorry, only just seen your reply. I tried all that and more with no joy. In the end I took a brick out in the attic and fished it all out that way. Pain in the ar5e, but done now. Am leaving the brick out for a few weeks to let a bit of air through there for a while.
