    Mixer tap problem

Thanks for the reply's everyone, appreciated. I'm not at home to check, however as far I remember, the end of the handle itself was bored out and threaded, and the small screw part was left sticking out. I.e. it screws on rather than in. I could be wrong though? Even still, is it possible that...

    Mixer tap problem

Looking for some help with a mixer tap which looks very similar to this: Basically, the handles have loosened so that when you try and shut the water off, they are up against the wall tiles behind The Handles themselves can be unscrewed which then allows the whole knob to be spun 360. Doing...

Stalling at low revs when cold....

Thanks again, John. Il try covering the exhaust tonight and listen in the engine bay for leaks. The cat doesn't have air con, its the very basic blower with a slide to control hot/cold. I have a later allure model with the air con and its a totally different set up. Her's looks really old...

Stalling at low revs when cold....

Thanks, John. Il check that tonight. It is indeed petrol. I think its the 8v variant which is also fitted to the 206. The Idle control valve does appear to be a common issue on these engines. If its not expensive Il just buy a new one. Was also thinking of a fuel filter as a matter of course...

Supporting an Oven when taking it out of kitchen unit...

Ok so I need to get an oven out of a kitchen unit while I work on it. Its built into a unit with a cupboard underneath so the bottom of the oven itself sits above waist height. Iv had it out before and supported it on a table but it wasn't ideal. I don't mind buying something more suited to...

    Problem with central locking

I fixed it a similar way, by manually locking and unlocking with the key in the lock.

    Problem with central locking

I have a Peugeot 207 which has developed a fault. It locks itself as soon as the driver side door is closed. When I get out of the car and shut the door the car locks itself where as I used to have to press the button on the fob. I thought at first I may have activated a feature but apparently...

    Grill element fun and games....

It was the rcd which was tripping not the mcb. An rcd trips when it detects an imbalance between phase and neutral. An mcb trips when there is overload current to protect the circuit which is not the case here. I should have been more specific, was trying to keep it simple as this is a DIY forum.

    Grill element fun and games....

Thanks for the reply. I already suspected that the heat of the element would be enough to melt the solder so thanks for confirming. A ceramic connector block could be a way to go. The fact that the grill did come on at one point makes me suspect that it is a working element so Id like to at...

    Grill element fun and games....

I replaced a grill element in a duel electric combined oven and grill/oven unit. It had been working fine until about a month ago. I replaced the main oven element not long ago and have had no issues. I used the code from the original manual to order the exact element required. I put it the...

    Gap between window and frame.

Really?! That's not good news :/. To be honest looking at it its probably not quite as bigger gap as I first thought. Perhaps more like 1cm or so. At the top of the window there is a metal knuckle on either side which pertridus higher than the top of the window. It looks as though the knuckle...

Iv had a look at it and cant see how it adjusts. If anyone can give me some ideas how to adjust it Id...

Corsa C can't get calliper back onto disc

Tried some wd40. The old disc will still get between the old pads but there isnt a lot of room to pump the piston back out. When Iv done this before on other cars Iv been able to just push it back with the flat of a spanner and my my thumbs with my finger gripping the back side ofthe calliper...

Corsa C can't get calliper back onto disc

Ok so I removed the calliper and changed the disc. Got the old pads out by gently pushing the old one back against the piston to free it up. So far so good. Problem is the gap between the 2 pads is into sufficient to allow the disc between them. The piston is stuck out still about 2 or 3mm...

    Supporting a car.....

What did I say that was sarcastic? "How about a slightly more constructive answer?" You seemed to know something about the subject but where unwilling to divulge your knowledge. For you to take the time to reply but not actually offer anything of vale seemed unconstructive and therefore I asked...
