    Internal window board fitting

I'm refurbing our bedroom and have removed the old window board/window cill. The bottom of the window is basically back to brick work and needs to be raised up around 1 - 2 inches (including the window board thickness) to make the existing window look neat. Should i try and level the exposed...

    New roof condensation noticed

We have just had a new natural slate roof fitted. The natural slates weren't perfect and there are some minor but noticable gaps where they lie. I have noteced that there are patches of condensation appearing on the felt under the tiles. It definitely isn't rain penetrating. I haven't got...

Adding a loft spur to a ring main

I want to add a spur, to feed a double plug socket in the loft, to an existing ring main. I have measured the floor area (including stairs) of what the circuit already feeds. This equates to 90M². The IEE regs say that a ring main cannot serve a floor area greater than 100M². Would this...

Which power circuit/s would be best

We have just moved in to a three storey town house. The existing power (1960s) appears to be one ring main (grey 2.5mm twin and earth) covering all three floors. The cables for this are all buried in the walls, even the horizontal ones between the sockets. As i work my way down from the top...

    Cable runs

Thanks for all the inputs, however after mulling over it, i think it will be safer to channel the cable into the wall and then plaster over it. Also please see my next post.

    Cable runs

If i don't use this route, am i right is thinking the next best way is to channel a route within 150mm from any corner and then plaster over the cables afterwards? Alternatively all the internal walls in the house are stud so i may be able to route it down one of these. What does anyone think?

    TV distribution

I want a terestrial signal in every room. I would at least like to be able to view Sky in all the rooms, even if this was achieved through one common Sky box, but eventually i would expect to want to install another one/two sky boxes in the other rooms. As my terestrial arieal is in the loft i...

    Removing recessed nails

I have taken the old floor up in our bedroom in preparation for laying a new laminate floor. However there are a few areas where the floor boards are raised in relation to the rest towards the edge of the room. These boards go through to the next room where the floor is still in place so...

Can i add a socket in the loft by connecting to the last socket on my upstairs radial circuit, or do i need to run a separate feed to it?
