I want to add a spur, to feed a double plug socket in the loft, to an existing ring main.
I have measured the floor area (including stairs) of what the circuit already feeds. This equates to 90M².
The IEE regs say that a ring main cannot serve a floor area greater than 100M². Would this contravene the regs as the loft is probably 28M² but isn't strictly a floor as it isn't habitable?

If the loft is habitable space i.e. likely to be heated, then treat as a new room and supply a circuit accordingly.

If all you want to plug in is a handlamp and power drill occasionally, use a spur. You could even use a fused spur with a neon FCU somewhere visible so you don't leave things switched on in the loft.

The "plug" socked is going to power a TV distibution loft box which i know will draw next to nothing power wise.
I just wanted to know whether it is permitted or not?

I often wonder what other type(s) of sockets there might be.... ;)

You can only fit a single socket on a spur unless fused individually.
