Fitting new light in garage - will I need a certificate?

Yes, the current light is a strip light on the main RCD circuit (down stairs light ring i think). I was going to add the addtional cable to the light & run it back throught the roof/plaster board. Kinda like an additional branch. I dont want to add another switch or anything.

Fitting new light in garage - will I need a certificate?

Well, I done electrics, gas, plumbing & joinery (all of which has been passed by inspectors in the past) so I think I will be ok. Anyway, I always stop & ask if I get stuck & I'm unsure on what to do. The cable joint for the addtional light will be behind plaster board. So, apart from the...

Fitting new light in garage - will I need a certificate?

Pretty competent DIY'er (i think!) So, adding an additional light is ok then - no certificate then? I guess moving the current light a few feet is no problem at all.

I want to fit a new light in the ceiling in my garage. I'm going to move the existing one from the middle of the ceiling across so its about 1/3 way in & the new one I'm going to just come off the current light cable & fit the new light over at the other 1/3 of my garage. So, can I do this...

Fixing plasterboard - screw or nail?

I'm going to be putting up some plasterboard on to a partition wall. I was just wondering, what's the 'prefered' method of fixing plasterboard on to a wooden frame. Screw or nail? The issue I have is that I'm only putting up no more than 4 sheets of board & the screw packs come in packs of...

Fully draining radiators in my system, bit of advice needed.

The problem is that the drain pin is built into the nozzle. I cant undo it with a hose attached, so, i think i need to shut off the valve so that i can release/remove the pin, then open the valve once the hose has been attached. Just thought it was a odd having this design of drain valve.

Fully draining radiators in my system, bit of advice needed.

I have a vented CH system in a small 3 bedroom house with 9 radiators. When I bled my radiators over the winter the water that came out was VERY black. So during the nice weather, I decided to drain the system down & add some Sentinel X400 to get rid of any gunge that might have accumulated...

Going to flush out my radiator system - is this right?

@Simond I dont have any problems per-se. But i thought using the X400 would be a good idea to make sure that any build up in the pipes get dissolved & flushed away when i drain it the second time. @D_H Thanks for that - some really useful addtional tips.

Going to flush out my radiator system - is this right?

Hi Guys, Right, just before Christmas, i bled some of my radiators & discovered that the water was very black (i have a conventional (Traditional) Boiler System). The last time the system was drained was in 2007 & this was done by a plumber who was taking out a radiator. So, I just...
